Income Tax Department — e-proceedings - no mention of max file size

Address:Bangalore, Karnataka
Website:incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

It department has now come up with e-proceedings section under it website to allow taxpayers to respond to relevant notices by it dept.
The issue is they have only mentioned that to upload files zip or pdf formats are allowed, however there's no mention if there's any restriction on max file size and if more than one files can be uploaded.

This will help taxpayers to properly gather the evidences in appropriate format and help smooth submission of the response.

I tried contacting[protected] / +[protected] but i am kept on hold for last 15 minutes.

Income tax department has issued notices to several taxpayers indicating discrepancies between their ITRs and other forms like Form 16, 16A, 26AS etc.

Taxpayers are expected to respond under e-proceeding section on Income Tax Website. When you 'disagree' to the notice (and you may have valid reasons to do so) a new section opens up allowing you to fill the required details.

This section is extremely confusing and not at all use friendly. Even CAs are also not able to interpret and understand it correctly.

There are no guidelines, no proper documentation, no information on expected values and so on. The e-proceedings pdf documentation is very generic and not case specific. It does not help. The applications errors out if you do not provide validated values but there's no information anywhere about validations required.

This is yet another classic example of lack of commitment, lack of customer centicity and poor commonsense on part of Income Tax Department.
