This is to bring to your notice that I received a call from [protected] from a person named Subhash Chandra stating that he needed to make same payments to PD Motors Hengerabari via a digital wallet to purchase lubricants. Since the owner of PD Motors, Mr. Pranab Das ([protected]) who happens to be my friend did not use any digital wallets he asked me to receive the same. Subhash Chandra who mentioned that he was from Indian Army Narengi Depot Guwahati called me to confirm if I used PhonePe Wallet and I said I used PhonePe. He made some initial deposits of Re 1 and Rs 2 through QR codes sent to me via a whatsapp number [protected]. Since he mentioned that he was from Indian Army and even passed on his Army credentials (attached herewith) I believed him. But after 3 initial transactions I realized that 6000 INR has gone from my SBI savings account [protected] in 3 lots. I called him up and he said that I will get a code of 19191 and I needed to type the same in my PhonePe Wallet. I was not aware of his intentions and so typed the same and unfortunately found out that I had lost another 19191 INR from my account. So in total I was duped of 25191 INR. When I called him and informed him of the same, he again made some excuses and said that he will give me some codes which will make the money come back to me. I decided not to fall into the trap and refused immediately.
This is a clear case of cyber financial fraud being operated in the name of Indian Army by some unscrupulous persons. I have attached necessary screenshots of transaction ids, whatsapp messages and have also raised fraud tickets with PhonePe.
