Mahadiscom / Mseb / Msedcl — Huge bill and sub division staff not willing to resolve it

Respected sir,

I am staying as a tenant in the house with consumer number[protected]. I have shifted here from 12 dec 2016 and have received 4 bills till date. Following are the details:

Date and amount
23-nov-16 to 23-dec-16: amount - rs. 600
23-dec-16 to 21-jan-17: amount - rs. 668
21-jan-17 to 15-feb-17: amount - rs. 2680
15-feb-17 to 17-mar-17: amount - rs. 600
17-mar-17 to 18-apr-17: amount - rs. 750

For the first 2 bills, the meter was faulty and new meter was fixed before the 3rd bill. So the 3rd and 4th bill are as per new meter readings.

As you can see, the third bill amount is huge. I was shocked to see the amount for the month when i was not even at home for 8 days (From 21 jan to 28 jan, i was out of pune and no one was at home)

On receiving the third bill, i promptly raised a complaint on 02-mar-2017 by dialling the customer care number. They assured me that i will receive a revised bill. I waited for the revised bill for 10 days but the online website was still showing the same bill. I again called customer care to check the status. They told me that the revision is done only next month and also told me to pay the bill immediately as it is march ending and electricity will be cut.

I immediately went to the sub-station the next day and told them about my complaint. The person there told me that the meter was faulty for the first two bills and meter was fixed for the 3rd bill and this 3rd bill is a correct one as it is according to the new meter. He also said that if this bill repeats then the previous bills will be revised and i will have to pay more according to the new bills. He also told me to pay the bill immediately as electricity will be cut in one or two days if i don't pay. He told me to come by checking the meter reading. To avoid electricity cut, i paid this high bill and hoped the bill adjustment will come later.

Now that the meter status is normal and new bill has arrived (Please see 4th bill), i checked the meter reading and it again showed 86 units and hence the bill is like the usual 600 rupees. Same case with 5th bill. With the new bills, i again went to the sub division office and told that i was asked to come after the new bill and it is the usual amount. So the 3rd bill has come out to be so high by mistake and kidly look into it.

My request was again rejected saying that whatever the meter reading shows is correct and they told me that i must have used that much electricity. Also, they pointed out that the bill is for 2 months. Even then i have paid almost 2000 per month as i already had rs 1200 in as a pre payment.

Over the course of this incident, i am highly frustrated and hence this complaint. I request you once again to look into this particular complaint and perform a fair evaluation. I only have 5 led bulbs, 3 fans, 1 fridge and 1 gyser (Which is used to fill only 1 bucket of hot water per day). How can the bill be so high? And that too when i was out of town for 8 days? So effectively the bill is for even a lesser period.

In previous years also i have faced the same issue but the authorities were prompt in addressing the same. This is such a blatant extortion in the name of march ending.
