Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to register a formal complaint against the unjust imposition of an e-challan and the unprofessional behavior exhibited by a traffic policeman on the date of 27th May 2023. The incident occurred at Wakad Chowk during my commute for a job interview. I strongly believe that my rights as a law-abiding citizen were violated, and I seek appropriate action to rectify this matter.
On the aforementioned date, I encountered heavy traffic at Wakad Chowk, which is a well-known congested area. It has been observed that in such situations, the traffic police have allowed vehicles, including two-wheelers and four-wheelers, to pass through the BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) route. Being aware of this practice, I decided to take the BRT route to reach my destination in a timely manner.
However, to my surprise, I was intercepted by a traffic policeman at a traffic signal along the BRT route. He captured my picture and promptly demanded my driving license. Complying with his request, I handed over my license, seeking clarification regarding the offense I had committed. I respectfully pointed out that, in similar circumstances in the past, vehicles were permitted to utilize the BRT route, which made me assume it was permissible on that particular day as well.
Regrettably, the traffic policeman's behavior was extremely rude, and he refused to listen to my explanation. In a dismissive and disrespectful tone, he said in Marathi, "Kiti bharta, kitichi karu" (How much can you pay, how much shouldI charge you?). Despite my attempts to reason with him, he disregarded my arguments entirely. After a brief interval, he raised his voice and threatened, "Jaa aata 500 chi pavti fadli ahe, debit card kadh" (Go now, I have issued a fine of 500 rupees, give me debit card). I informed him that I did not possess a debit card at the moment, but he displayed no willingness to listen and forced me to wait for an additional five minutes, causing further delay to my job interview.
Eventually, realizing that my time was running out, I reluctantly left the scene. Shortly thereafter, I received a text message notifying me of a 500 rupees e-challan on my mobile device. I consider this incident to be highly unfortunate and utterly unacceptable, both in terms of the unjust imposition of the e-challan and the disrespectful conduct of the traffic policeman involved.
Therefore, I kindly request the Pune RTO Police Department to investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action. I humbly request the cancellation of the e-challan bearing the following reference number: #PMCCM[protected].
I trust in the competence and professionalism of the RTO Pune in addressing this matter promptly and ensuring justice is served. I hope that strict disciplinary action is taken against the traffic policeman responsible for his unprofessional behavior, which tarnishes the image of the police department.
Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to a swift resolution of my complaint.
Yours faithfully,
Shubham
