Dear Sir/Madam,
I Amritha Merlyn Barboza was admitted to the hospital for left hand surgery. I visited the hospital 15days before did all medical related investigation and procedures as advised/ prescribed by the concerned doctor. It was decided for a hand surgery as advised by the doctor and I have taken prior appointment with concerned hand surgery section doctor and as he suggested I admitted to the hospital on Wednesday 12-Jan-2022 morning and surgery supposed to have been happened today 13-Jan-2022.
Hospital people asked for deposit of 20000 before admission and soon after admission INR 39500/- collected as surgery charges and both have been paid and In the morning on 12-Jan-22 the admission was made.
The hand surgery section doctor Mr Ashwath Acharya, informed about the procedure of covid test before admission and asked to come in the morning itself of 12th Jan 22 to complete all such procedure and accordingly i went in the morning and was ready for all that.
But during the admission, the hospital staff was busy in collecting deposit amount surgery charges and so on but least bothered about the procedures even when the patient asked about the test also they said it was not necessary and admission made, money collected as explained above.
At evening suddenly, they have collected a RAT sample for covid test and informed that I am positive for covid and surgery cannot be made, and must be discharged. It was sudden shock though i asked for a response that why the admission made without covid test but there was no body to answer rather they are passing the buck each other.
And for no reason Kasturba Hospital asked me to pay Rs. 10064 and go home. With no option I paid settled the bill and came home.
Though it is procedure to do covid test before admission as informed by hand surgery section doctor, why they have not done and violated procedure and admitted, and why they did covid test after 7-8 hours of admission after collecting deposit and surgery charges?
Though it was their fault of admitting patient without doing required test why the hospital collected Rs 10064 (Ten thousand Sixty Four) for their fault without giving required medical treatment to the me.
Please investigate it and provide us justice.
