I am a dnb resident in general medicine department in st. Martha's hospital bangalore
I am writing this letter to bring to your attention the problems faced by dnb residents in st. Martha's hospital bangalore.
The duty schedule in hospital requires us to do night duties on alternate days including the day time duty (Approximately 98-110 hrs of duty in a week). This include continuous 30 hrs of duty on most of the days and continuous 56 hours of duty on alternate weekends. Please note that the hospital does not provide any weekly off for all the dnb residents and we are expected to be in the hospital on all the days.
We have brought this issues to the attention of hospital administration and they are least bothered about this problem. The health condition of pg residents are becoming worse because this heavy work load and patient care is also getting compromise which the hospital administration is not at all bothered.
We are struggling to finish the studies here as this is a hard earned pg seat after years of preparation. I am writing this letter with the confidence in dnb board that the confidentiality of this letter will be maintained and measures will be taken to solve this issue.
Many thanks
