Pre-paid cab booking counter inside the Jolly grant airport(at departure), Dehradoon

Hi,

I have recently taken a same day return flight from Delhi- Jolly Grant Dehradoon airport, for an official visit. (19th March'24, with an indigo flight). Airport has a local cab booking counter beside the conveyor belt. I tried inquiring about a particular destination from the airport. Below is the incident which happened:

1. pre-paid counter has quoted by Rs. 2800/- for Vikas Nagar, Pachwa doon
2. I tried checking on Uber, it quoted Rs. 2000/-
3. Person on the counter said - Uber guy will not come to pick. So book with us. I said - your charges are expensive, Rs. 2000/- is quoted by Uber, hence i'll prefer that
4. I connected with the uber guy, he was ok to pick me
5. As I was about to leave, this pre-paid counter guy approached, saying there is union and uber will not be allowed. You will have to book from us. He tried pulling the security personnel on the exit gate in the conversation for affirmations. Security personnel denied to take part in the conversation. Guy was not ready to let me leave the premises, with his repeated threat that I'll have to book via him and my uber will not be allowed to pick. I rushed out hurriedly
6. I located by Uber cab just outside the exit gate, near cab parking centre, sat in the uber and was about to start, suddenly 2 fellows approached the uber
7. They started threatening the Uber guy, started asking for his documents, to open the door and said that he can not take me as a passenger, They asked him to drop me at the airport itself and that i'll book the pre-paid.
8. My uber guy did not agree to drop me there and did not open the door.
9. These guys approached me, sitting on the backseat, asking to get out of the car. I asked them who are they, they replied they drive cab and i 'll have to use the pre-paid cabs only if i need to get out of the airport in a cab. They also mentioned, No other cab is allowed inside for the pick up
10. This nuisance went on for another approx 10 mins, these fellows threatening my uber cab driver and asking me repeatedly to get out of the car
11. I realised, there is a police chowki on the airport itself and when told them that i am going to get cops involved if they dont let us go, then only backed out, but with a warning to the uber driver, that next time they see him, they'll destroy his car

This was really disturbing, exhaustive and not the kind of experience you would expect exiting an airport. Incident was threatening, and if not handled calmly by my uber driver - these fellows could have opted for the violence as well (at least this could be gauged by the heated arguments they were using).

I am personally not aware about such rules that an Uber/Ola or private taxi can not be used on Dehradoon airport for pick ups, and only pre-paid taxi available on the airport is the only way out.

Request you to kindly look into this and help passengers avoid unpleasant mafia encounters like this, on the airport premises.
