Few years ago, i ended up donating to relief india after getting a call from one of their employees about urgent need of money for a baby. That triggered a deluge of calls in the next few months and getting suspicious i searched about this ngo and came across multiple complaints about how they duped people.
Yesterday, i received bunch on whatsapp messages from a lady who claims to work for relief india (Who used to call me earlier as well, messages this time were from the number [protected]) about a baby girl with burn injuries and the messages kept describing about how the girls parents are crying in the hospital. There was also an attachment with details of the case.
I googled about the baby, and found that, she was admitted in the hospital almost a month ago (September 9th) and the pdf they had attached is available for download for anyone. I messaged back asking the lady as to why she is messaging now about the baby who was admitted a month ago and also to provide me details about the hospital so that i can contact them directly, unsurprisingly there was no response.
Inline with other complaints against this ngo, i believe these folks are trying to play on human sentiments and extract money. Request the authorities to look in to this and take appropriate action as such fraudsters ends up diluting the work done by genuine organizations. Was this information helpful? |
