Road — Ineffective traffic light and poor maintenance of public safety

On the main road named pankha road, near dabri flyover, just opposite to the entry of raghu nagar (Near naveen general store), pin code-110045, there is a u turn. General public uses this way to cross road daily. Not all people can cross the road using foot over bridge constructed approx. 150 m away from this place for example senior citizens and people with joint pain and other health related problems. Also, it is time-consuming to use this foot over bridge for many people.

Near the u turn mentioned above, there is a traffic light which has been installed for public safety, the purpose of which is to enable walkers to cross the road safely. This traffic light is not working at all which exposes many people and school-going children to a major risk of accidents. Seldom, the traffic policemen are seen on opposite side of the road to check two wheelers coming from the wrong side and issue challans to them.in the absence of traffic policemen which is nearly a daily phenomenon, many people are exposed to serious risk of meeting with accidents. Cases of eve teasing by the bikers coming from the wrong side also occur here. Being girls, i and my friend have also faced the similar problem many a times. At night, the space under the flyover near the u turn becomes very dark which adds to the risk.in addition to it, many careless citizens are seen using this place as a dumping ground. This happens when dumping ground is just adjacent to this area.

Safety is a 24*7 hour issue which is not maintained up to the mark here, personal as well as public. Many people have met with small and serious accidents so far in this area. Many girls and ladies have suffered eve teasing too. The same is the case with the people crossing the road from its opposite side. Health is put at stake completely. Please look into the matter and take immediate and necessary action on this front by installing a working traffic light, by assigning a traffic policemen on duty so that people may follow the traffic light and other road safety rules. This would also decrease the risk of eve teasing for the women crossing the road. Morever, the issue of the place being made a small dumping ground can be dealt with necessary and stern action by the government authorities such as installing a cctv camera or using the place for road side gardening. Gardening was initiated by the government but proper monitoring and follow up were not done which resulted into the present situation.

I hope these safety issues would be dealt immediately. I am a responsible person of my neighborhood and i hope we all become a responsible citizen of our country.
