I, Vignan Sai Kammila, along with my family, booked a 7-day vacation to Uttarakhand through Sampuran Yatra Pvt Ltd, a travel agency based in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh. Despite finalizing an itinerary with their sales executive, Ms. Shiwani Thakur, which included specific luxury hotels, we encountered several issues during our trip:
Itinerary Tampering and Fraud: Upon arrival in Haridwar, we found that our hotel reservation had not been made as agreed. The agency later informed us that the itinerary had been tampered with by an employee, and without our knowledge, the remaining hotels in the itinerary were changed. Out of the five hotels originally booked, only one was honored.
Unprofessional Behavior: Multiple employees, including Ms. Shiwani and Ms. Sowmya, provided conflicting information about the itinerary changes and displayed rude and unprofessional conduct. Despite our requests for clarification and escalation, no action was taken, and our concerns were dismissed.
Extortion Attempts: During our trip, we received calls from unknown individuals claiming to be affiliated with the travel company, demanding additional payments. The company also attempted to extort further money by demanding full payment for hotels we had not booked, contrary to our agreement to pay only ₹30, 000 in advance.
We were forced to pay the full amount for three hotels directly and ended up booking the last two hotels independently to avoid further issues. The agency has refused to provide a refund for the ₹30, 000 advance paid.
I am seeking the Consumer Complaints Department’s assistance in securing a full or partial refund from Sampuran Yatra Pvt Ltd for the fraudulent and unprofessional services provided. Attached are the original and revised itineraries, along with communication records and hotel receipts. Further evidence can be provided upon request.
