I have never heard worse cricket commentary in my life than tamil cricket commentary in star sports.
The tamil commentators, who include rj balaji (A comedian who doesn't know anything about cricket), english commentary rejects like srikkanth, laxman sivaramakrishnan and russell arnold, and also badrinath, badani, abhinav mukund, nani, vb etc. Are the most unprofessional cricket commentators i have ever heard in my life. Instead of talking about the match and analysing the players and team strategies, they crack stupid and insulting jokes, especially when rj balaji or srikkanth are commentating. They blatantly mock opposition players and teams, and indulge in name-calling which shows how immature they are. They are highly biased towards csk and shamelessly defend it, saying that since they cater to tamil audience, they should support csk and even claim that other regional language commentators would support their state ipl team. They are so ignorant of the fact that not all tamilians support csk and there is huge fan base for rcb and mi in tamil nadu as well. They drag csk rivalries into international matches too. They also show favouritism towards tamil cricketers, however bad they may be, such as vijay shankar, who is one of the most useless and undeserving indian cricketers to ever get selected for a cricket world cup.
Only good thing is, the tamil they use is colloquial and therefore can be understood easily.
Better for star sports to discontinue regional commentary and focus only on english (Regular and dugout) and hindi commentary. Most south indians, including tamilians, know english and can make do with english commentary. Was this information helpful? |
