We are residents of 23rd Cross, 6th Block, Jayanagar, Bengaluru – 560070. We wish to bring to your attention the persistent stray dog nuisance in our locality and the adjoining park.

Approximately 15–20 stray dogs regularly congregate in this area, particularly during the night. They continuously bark, chase and fight among themselves, often throughout the night, causing severe disturbance to residents and depriving them of peaceful sleep.

The situation is aggravated by a few women from another locality who come during late-night hours to feed these dogs. The dogs become highly active and aggressive after feeding, resulting in increased barking, chasing and fighting. Food is thrown on the roads/footpaths, and plastic covers and other waste are left behind, causing littering and unhygienic conditions.

When residents have requested these persons not to create such a nuisance, they have, on some occasions, verbally abused and argued with the residents.

We request the concerned authorities to:

Inspect the locality, preferably during night-time, and verify the situation.
Take appropriate lawful measures to address the stray dog menace and aggressive behaviour.
Examine and regulate the location and manner of feeding so that it does not cause public nuisance, littering or safety concerns.
Take action regarding littering of roads and footpaths with food waste and plastic covers.
Ensure that residents are not subjected to abuse, intimidation or confrontation when raising legitimate civic concerns.

We respect animal-welfare requirements and seek only a lawful and practical solution to the continuing nuisance, sanitation and public-safety problems faced by residents.

We request urgent inspection and necessary action, and that the action taken on this complaint be communicated to the residents.
