The top gear shaft’s oil seal of my car got damaged (not due to an accident/collision), and the oil got leaked which again caused damage to the clutch disc pressure plate. Upon further investigation, I learned that this seal has a manufacturing defect that Tata Motors has acknowledged and rectified by creating a new seal. I understand that this issue has been affecting multiple vehicles since 2021, and Tata Motors has freely replaced the defective seal for the vehicles in some batches.
Although my car does not fall within the batches of vehicles that have had their seals replaced, I am experiencing the same problem with the defective seal. I have visited your authorized service centre in Kayamkulam multiple times (very poor customer service) to get this issue resolved. Unfortunately, the repair/replacement of this issue is not free of cost as the warranty of my car has recently expired. The personnel from the service centre informed me of the expenses which will be around Rs.20, 000/-.
It is only due to the manufacturing defect of the top gear shaft, the oil leaked which in turn caused damage to the clutch disc pressure plate. I strongly believe that since my car has the same defective seal as the affected vehicles as previously stated, it is only fair that Tata Motors should replace it with the updated seal and repair/replace the clutch disc pressure plate without having me pay for it.
