On July 21, 2025 I subscribed to the epaper of The New Indian Express for one year paying a total amount of Rs.885. After going through the paper and after finding its quality really bad, I decided to seek cancellation of my subscription. When I requested cancellation over phone today (July 22, 2025 - within 36 hours of the original act of subscription), the New Indian Express official categorically told that the paper does not entertain subscription cancellation request. Incidentally, this newspaper preaches sanctimonious morals through its editorials but does not know if a customer is not satisfied with the paper's subscription, ethically speaking his/her pro-rata subscription amount ought to be refunded to him/her. Credibility is the last thing the New Indian Express has in its mind. Its journalistic quality and credibility are at the rock bottom now. If the management of the newspaper is serious about its credibility, it should refund the pro-rata subscription to dissatisfied customers when they seek cancellation of subscription. WARNING FOR FUTURE SUBSCRIBERS: Beware of the restrictive trade practice of The New Indian Express group when it comes to dealing with dissatisfied customers. Avoid subscribing to it in your own interest. Was this information helpful? |
