Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to lodge a formal consumer complaint regarding an issue with my Union Bank of India savings account.
Recently, when I approached your branch to close my account, I was informed that my account is reflecting a negative balance of ₹1400, which is both surprising and concerning, as I have never opted for any overdraft facility, nor was I informed of any such charges.
As per the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines (Circular: DBR. Dir. BC. No.47/13.03.00/2014-15 dated November 20, 2014), it is clearly stated that:
> "The balance in savings accounts should not be permitted to go below zero on account of charges."
Moreover, I have not received any intimation, SMS, or email alerts regarding these deductions, which violates RBI's directive for transparency in penal charges related to minimum balance non-maintenance.
I therefore request the following:
1. A complete and itemized breakup of all charges leading to the negative balance.
2. An explanation of why my account was allowed to go negative, despite no overdraft approval from my end.
3. Immediate reversal of any unjustified charges and clearance of the negative balance.
4. Assistance in closing my account after resolution of the issue.
If this matter is not resolved promptly, I will be forced to escalate the complaint to the RBI Banking Ombudsman via the RBI CMS Portal under consumer grievance norms.
