Mahamaya Technical University — Illegal denial by Council of Architecture to register the students of Apeejay School of Architecture.

The Issue:
We, the students of Apeejay school of Architecture (admitted to the institute during and after the session[protected], Mahamaya Technical University, Noida(formerly U.P.T.U), do solemnly put fortArchitecture.
h our problem and situation of being declared “not to be registered” by the Council of
· This bars us from using the title “Architect” (as per Architects Act, 1972)
· The Council of Architecture is a statutory body constituted by the Government of India, under the provision of Architects Act, 1972.
· The Council clearly states “Any person desirous of carrying on the profession of 'Architect' must have registered himself with Council of Architecture”.
· The registration by the council is essential to:
1. Practice the profession of architecture, (from signing construction documents to running architectural consultancy)
2. Employment with various government and private bodies,
3. To pursue & to apply for higher studies in architecture,
4. To apply and to hold the positions of teachers, professors etc. to impart architectural education,
5. In effect it renders us unable to practice this profession in any and all of the professional prospects!

Our present and condition:-
· We took admission in the institute via the state entrance examination and state
university counselling.
· We are one of the finest and prestigious institutes, functioning since 1999.
· We have proved our mettle in every field of architecture and life whether academics, competitions, or career. Our alumni have brought our college a good name nationwide and have been successful in varied fields.
· Even after having a good reputation all over, the Council of Architecture has declared us “not be registered as architects” even after being awarded the B.Arch. degree.
· The council put the college under “no admission category” in 2008-09 after undertaking an inspection on grounds of lack of faculty and infrastructure.
· Our college authorities respond that they have been working on the issue ever since, and have also filed various court cases against the Council along with that they alleged the council members to be corrupt(with respect to the C.B.I cases).
· The Council of Architecture, via its president, Mr. Uday Gadkari conveys us that
we are an ILLEGAL ADMISSION in the eyes of the Council, that they take no stand in
the favour of our future!
· The state university have been admitting “innocent” students in this institute without prior information even after the counselling and fee submission as to the status of the college, due to which students take admission and being unaware of the knitty gritty of the whole issue, function of the council, university, institution and other causes and dictums until a couple of years of academics are left in a blank space as our complete five years of education, hard work and resources shall go a complete waste.
· This on humanitarian grounds should be conceived as a crime done by higher authorities, indirectly abusing basic foremost right as student and playing with the sensitive future of hundreds of students, it been an act of shamefulness and carelessness on their part to act in an immature manner to lead to a situation where ultimate victim are innocent students, not at fault anywhere.
· This is creating a negative attitude and certainly a loss of state of mental wellbeing, dampening of our spirits as budding architects, responsible for development, growth and welfare of the nation and society.
· On the basis of this current situation and the reasons mentioned we, the students of Apeejay school of Architecture, Greater Noida have decided to stand for our cause in the form of a peaceful protest against all the above mentioned authorities, asking for a solution in written words, authorised by dignitaries that will enable us to be registered by the council as we complete our Bachelors of Architecture qualification. If we are not given the solution within a viable time limit, we will be compelled to act further in a graver manner, in form of a peaceful “HUNGER MOVEMENT” that will continue till our basic rights are acknowledged and our demands are fulfilled.
