VARUN SACHDEVA — Rejection of Insurance Claim

INSURANCE COMPANY NAME: HDFC ERGO General Insurance Company Limited

I request you to please look into this matter. I bought this SARVA SURKASHYA PLUS plan of HDFC ERGO, which was the maximum coverage plan available at the time of purchase of insurance (MARCH 2020), to protect the borrower family and the loan amount.
It covers,
1. Household coverage
2. Loss of Job
3. Accidental Death
4. Permanent total or partial Disability
5. Accidental Hospitalization
6. Critical Illness
7. Credit Shield
8. Garage Cash

This policy provides such vast coverage, still, HDFC ERGO is not accepting our claim, stating COVID-19 was not covered under the policy. We have purchased this policy, at a time when there was no such COVID situation in MARCH 2020.
I had filed this claim regarding my mother's death. My mother's death took place on 05.05.2021 due to respiratory failure/heart failure which is one of the complications that may occur in the illness which was covered under critical illness (Like Heart attack and Primary Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension). It is clearly mentioned in the death certificate issued from the hospital that respiratory failure is the cause of death including COVID. I am also having a Negative COVID -19 report on[protected]. Due to this COVID-19 pandemic, hospitals are considering all patients as COVID suspected.
It was communicated earlier to the Company that it can collect all the necessary reports directly from the hospital via EMAIL or LETTER.
There is no point in purchasing insurance if we are not covering the uncertain situation which may cause death.
I urge you to please help us in this matter and resolve this issue.
