[Resolved]  Airtel — Airtel - no 4g signal - speed less than 1mbps

I have been using Airtel network for more than 10 years. After looking at the over exaggerated advertisements in the TV channels, I decided to recharge my mobile with 4G data connection. It's been 2 weeks since I did a 4G recharge but still I did not get 4G signal even a single time on my mobile. Amazing thing is, I don't even get a proper 3G signal on my mobile phone. When I initially complained on the same to the customer care, they said they will take this to the technical team and resolve the issue. My complaint was taken on 23 May 2016 (Ref. No. C3GDC[protected]) and on the same day I received an SMS stating "Network settings for your airtel mobile have been rest for an enhanced data experience". I waited for 2 days and nothing happened. The signal status was the same.

I called the customer care again for the second time and gave the same complaint saying I still don't get 3G or 4G signals. My complaint was taken again (Reg. No. CGPSC[protected]) but this time they told me to change some network settings on my mobile which is to change the network data mode from LTE/WCDMA/GSM to WCDMA/GSM. I changed my settings and waited for 2 days again no use. Still my network signal remained the same.

I called the customer care again for the third time and gave the same complaint. This time they escalated the issue to the Senior technical team and one of the officer called Sharanya spoke to me regarding the issue. She told me to change the network mode settings and I said I already did it. She told me to wait on the line and finally she said for your area, the signal strength is lesser and you will get only limited signal. I asked her "then why are you selling 4G data pack for my area when there's not even proper 3G signal and I'm wasting my money on 4G data packs" and I was amazed to get such an answer from her which was "If you don't get proper signal in 4G or 3G, please use 2G data packs. Why do you waste your money on 4G". "You may need to wait until the network speed is increased" She said.

Apart from the thing that I'm using Airtel for past 10 yrs, I have my Airtel 3G data card and 4 more connections in my home which are also Airtel. Frustration on one side is I don't get proper network signals and on the other side it's about the response from the customer care officers. I recharge for a 4G pack and I only get 0.1Mbps of speed which is totally frustrating.

First thing, please stop your over exaggerated 4G advertisements. When there's no 4G signal in my area. Second thing, train your customer care officers to talk professionally and address the issues of the consumers.

I have provided all the reference numbers of my complaints above. I would request the concerned authorities to take proper action on the same.
