Last week I ordered an Airtel prepaid SIM for my father.
Your delivery man brought it to our flat in R.K. Puram, New Delhi, on Friday 24th Nov. 2023.
The delivery man came around 12.00 noon and did his paperwork, I chose a new number, and paid him Rs 300 plus a Rs 50 tip for doing the work. He said the SIM would be activated shortly.
A few hours later, I put the new SIM into the phone and checked but other than some text messages from Airtel (stating the account had been created, and a customer acquisition form was enclosed), the card was still not active. Incidentally I am still unable to download that form.
I downloaded your app (which by the way is very clunky and doesn't work correctly anyway, just like your website), the account still did not show the payment. Naturally, the card also didn't work.
I tried to ring the 2 numbers shown on the website and ofcourse there is no working option to speak to anyone. On one occasion, via your website, I was able to find a number, with great difficulty, for customer support. When I rang that I was placed on auto hold for 29 minutes and 56 seconds.
In any case, I was unable to speak to anyone, nor does your chat function on the website offer any options to get the matter resolved.
I then checked the account balance 36 hours after your man had taken my money, and again this morning.
Still nothing, and no working SIM card.
So today I went to your Airtel store in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, and spoke to a young man who suggested I ring the delivery man, as he would have contacted us to set a time for the delivery, etc.
Unfortunately, my father has a very old Nokia phone, pre-smart phone technology, and the logs of calls etc only remain for a 2 day period. As today is now the 4th day, I was unable to retrieve the delivery person's number.
Accordingly, as I had to get the new SIM card to work, i had to go to the local market and get an independent mobile shop to kindly do another recharge for that number.
This has now been done, and I can now see that the number is working.
However, I have now paid twice for the 1 month service, because of your staff being either incompetent, or just a thief.
