This is regarding my old airtel account (Ref: [protected]),
This account which was originally cancelled back in december 2015, a payment of 5690 was made to airtel for the full and final, and we called to request a cancellation of the account.
However after about 3 months we started receiving calls form a collection agent that this account was active and over the last months has accumulated a balance of rs11, 428 (We were not in the country, hence the account wasn't being used),
Unsure what this amount was about, we called and spoke to customer service, they denied that we made any calls to cancel the account.
However they were willing to negotiate this amount and offered us a full and final settlement post the payment of rs. 6290,
- which to me is even more alarming, because if this rs11, 428 was a legitimate amount how is airtel waving off thousands of billed charges?
Learning from our past mistake, we demanded this conversation to be sent on an official mail before we make any further payment.
We recieved an email promptly from airtel (Please find attached) and
A representative came the same day to our residence to collect the payment, he suggested we made this payment by cash, so that the matter can be closed asap. We made a cash payment of rs.6290 to the fellow.
We were finally relieved when we received a confirmation from airtel, the receipt of payment on the 28th of march 2016. (However it erroneously calls this a cheque payment, which it is not - at the time we ignored that error)
The chapter was considered closed!
Pfa a copy of the email to authenticate this claim - i have an official mail from airtel validating the same (On 27thmarch 2016) requesting a full and final payment of rs. 6290.
Also, airtel payment receipt number[protected], date of receipt-28th march2016.
But it does not end here!!
After 8 months, yesterday, i get a legal notice for the same account. This time for another fictitious inflated amount of rs.17767.92!!!
Where did this amount come from... On an expired account?
I feel extremely harassed by airtel. A legal notice is no joke!'
How and why should i have to deal with this?
I have tried calling and talking to airtel. Logic does not work with them. They seem utterly clueless, offer no resolution and it seems like they don't even understand your concern.
This feels like they are just fleecing money from unsuspecting customers - using scare tactics. It truly is shameful.
I have been using airtel services forever, i do not expect such actions from a company of good repute. Truly disappointed.
Also, the number on the legal notice is switched off?
What is one supposed to do.
Hoping for a response.
