Airtel — migrating from postpaid to prepaid

I was originally a prepaid customer and had shifted my number to postpaid in order to link my aadhar card. On wanting to shift back to prepaid, they had told me that it would take 2-3 days, after which nothing had happened thus we went back again and were told that it would take an additional 5 days. I was called by airtel to pay 72 rupees for the billing period of this month (Even though i had requested to be shifted to prepaid after paying the bill amount for the month before and all my dues were cleared). I complained that this additional bill amount was due to delays on their part and was not my fault, but the lady insisted that my number would not be migrated if i did not pay the bill that occurred during the "processing time." so i paid the required 72 rupees yet nothing happened. Since after this waiting period still nothing had happened, so we emailed airtel and were told that it would take another 4 working days. After these were also up, we emailed yet again and were told that it would take another 4 working days. At this point we were getting frustrated but we continued to email, and started getting calls from marketing people at airtel asking us why i wanted to shift from postpaid to prepaid. Ultimately we were told it would take another 24 hours. After 24 hours we were told it would take another 96 hours. After this time had also elapsed, airtel called and said that the original prepaid sim they had issued had some "defects" and they needed to give me a new one! We had to go back to the airtel office to collect the new sim card and return the one they had originally issued. After this we were told it would take another 24 hours but nothing happened even then. Ultimately, the entire process has taken 21 days and nothing has happened!!! Airtel kept calling me telling me that it would migrate within 24 hours and no emails have helped. Airtel also sent a message that my new sim would be activated within 24 hours but yet again, nothing has happened. At this point i am fed up and am thus filing a complaint against airtel. I will not be paying any "dues" due to the absurd delays on their part and need my number to be converted to prepaid immediately!
