Airtel — Mobile tower installation in residential area without residents permissions

Hello Sir/Madam,

I am a resident of "Nallur" Village, belonging to Davanagere District of Karnataka.

I would like to bring to your kind notice the installation of a Mobile tower on top of my neighbour's house. Owner of the building is Mr. Ashokappa.

This area is completely a residential area with schools within 100-300 Mts range (Govt. schools at 300 Mts distance, A private college at 200 Mts distance and private school at around 300 Mts distance) and also hospitals with in 100 mars range (Veterinary)

So much is spoken and talked about the health issues the radiation of Mobile Towers can cause on humans, animals, birds and all living beings. We have heard of health hazards like cancer, hearing loss, brain damage, and many more serious issues caused by radiation from these Mobile Towers. Knowing this, if the towers are installed in residential areas, it is a big concern and also an indication that there is no authority to control them.

As per the TRAI rules, mobile towers can not be installed in residential areas, unless they abide by all the terms and conditions laid by the Government and Department of Telecom.

We, the Neighbours of Mr Ashokappa, had filed a complaint against this installation (Approximately in June of 2022) with the police and the gram panchayat, to which both Police and gram panchayat reacted, came to the installation place and stopped it saying they have not taken necessary permissions for the installation. This action by Police and gram panchayat was much appreciated, but din't last for long. Just in 2-3 months of this incident, I see that the tower has been successfully installed and neither the police nor Gram Panchayat did anything to stop it.

This is really disappointing to see that the authorities who stopped the installation clearly stating that there were no permission install the tower, did allow this to happen. The Police or the Gram Panchayat when approached later, were of no help.

The present radiation emitted by this particular mobile tower exceeds TRAI set limits.

I request TRAI to please look into this matter with utmost urgency and help us residents live a hazard free life.

Kind Regards,
Suma
