[Resolved]  Airtel — my 10 year old phone number allotted to someone else in just 7 months

I have been using my mobile number [protected] for past 10 years plus. I recently was out of station for 7 months. When i inserted the sim it showed inactive, i came to know my number is allocated to some one else. My point is how come in this much short duration you can allocate my number to some one else? This number is update in all my bank accounts, demat, pan detail, aadhaar account. My privacy is at risk as all the sms (Verification code, otp, urn) still goes to this number and i am fully prone to fraud as well because of exposed information. How irresponsibly my 10 years old number was allocated to some one else. After this long service i did not expect airtel to act so irresponsible which put mt at very high risk. Kindly take this matter urgently and give me chance to re activate my number. Thanks & regards, sharad arora

Hi Airtel Customer Support Team,

Please also give me SR number, in addition to callback requested now/anytime at +1-[protected].
I have sent an email from my registered email id, but have not been assigned any SR number.

Hi Airtel Customer Support Team,

I spoke to the person the phone number is allocated to. They are ready to return the SIM and take a new number at no additional cost to them. Pls. provide a SR number, so that they can do the same. And then I can get someone pick up the new SIM having my old number, after these people return it.

Pls. give the SR number and provide a way/procedure, for them to exchange their SIM Card soon. Thanks.

Hi Airtel Customer Support Team,

I have made many calls to Supervisor on Airtel Customer Care Number of Karnataka at [protected]. They gave me a convocation id: [protected], but NO SR number. Nor are they able to help me at any stage:
1) New Person who got SIM allocated in Dharwad, is ready to exchange his SIM with alternate number SIM at Airtel Outlet at no additional cost, and Airtel Customer Care is not providing me a way to enable him to exchanges so that my old Airtel number is de-allocated from the new person it got allocated to.
2) Then I should somehow get my number back. Here also Airtel Customer Care Supervisor was unaware of how Airtel can do this...
All this, even after being loyal to Airtel for last 10 years and having this SIM from Airtel for last 10 years !!!
Pls. help !
Pls. remove the feeling of Identity Theft ... All OTPs that I need are going to that Phone number.

No one called since last 12 hours, after giving alternate phone number and time (ANYTIME is fine) to call.

This complaint is not solved yet. No one from Airtel contacted me. This problem is where it was earlier. With passage of 3 months, infact it has become worse for me. Pls. help me get my phone number back, ASAP !
