I got an Airtel DTH connection in February 2021 paying a security deposit of ₹ 1500.

It was a terrible decision as the quality of service was terrible throughout. The connection would drop in windy and rainy conditions. Nevertheless, I stuck to it for a few months. Now I have decided to deactivate the connection as I don't need it anymore.
First, there's absolutely no easy way to raise a deactivation request from Airtel app or website or even their support portal. Absolutely pathetic from a company of this scale. So I called up customer care for the same. Here's how the conversation went.
I asked the customer executive to deactivate my connection. He checked a few things and straight up told me that if I deactivate it now I won't be getting my security deposit. I asked him the reason for the same. He told me that company had stated in Terms & Conditions that if you deactivate your connection within a year of the activation security deposit is not refundable. Not only that I cannot even disconnect the connection I have to mandatorily keep it activated i.e recharge every month for 1 year straight only after that if I deactivate I can get my security deposit back.
This is literal bullying from a company that keeps on bragging about being customer-centric and support in all its Ads.
Conclusion:
I want my deposit back as it rightly should be. Was this information helpful? |
