Requested new SIM card today afternoon (for [protected]) at Airtel Store (Sarjapur, Bangalore). I was given a new SIM card after giving the required documentation. My photo was also clicked for their records. The airtel representative assured that the new SIM would be activated within next 24 hours.
However, received an SMS in the afternoon stating that the request had been rejected and I need to contacted the store. (another trip to the store !!). Went to the airtel store in the evening only to be advised that they had sent a mail to their back office since my 'live' photo was not matching with the original photo and I would have to wait for their response. There was no assurance by when the issue will get resolved,
After much of argument, the Airtel store manager walked out to have the discussion with me. It was a heated discussion and at the end of it, the airtel store manager assured me that he will get the issue resolved by MOnday (1NOv21).
I have no option but to wait for next week to see if the matter will get resolved.
It is unfortunate that airtel service standards are such that the customer has to go with 'Airtel policies and procedures' even if the customer is having a direct impact. They do not seem to have an internal escalation procedure and as per the store manager, their back office team does not work on weekends.
Not surprising that their sense of 'urgency' is very different when selling a product/service or payment (I have been regularly paying monthly bills on time for the last 2 years or so and have a 'family' account)
At this stage, I only want the SIM card to be activated asap and no later than Monday, 1 November 2021 Was this information helpful? |
