[Resolved]  Arvind Mills — Monopolization using Gift Card - Harrowing Experience

Address:Gurgaon, Haryana

I had a harrowing time in trying to redeem Rs.5000/- gift card provided to me by my company to buy Arvind Mill merchandise. First a lot of stores selling Arvind Mills stuff would not honor it (including some exclusive retail outlets of Arrow, Flying Machine etc). When I finally found a store (18 km away from my residence) which would honor the card (phew!), they put a thousand restrictions on the use of card e.g. it could not be used during the sale period, all merchandise would be treated on MRP basis etc. After accepting all the previously stated monopolistic practices, I still went ahead and bought the stuff (because I visibly had no choice). All purchases above Rs. 3900 were eligible to receive a back-pack, but lo and behold, they would not do so in this case since it was a gift card and they would just not listen. Obviously because they realize that I have no choice but to buy from their store. When we have to pay the exact amount while buying a gift card, how can such a card be treated any differently than express cash or credit card? This clearly seems to be a case o[censored]nfair trade practices.
