[Resolved]  Airtel Broadband Services — Pro-rated Bill Dispute

Address:Faridabad, Haryana

Hi,
It has been a nightmare to get a resolution from Airtel. I have been a customer of Airtel (Broadband Service) for the past 3 years. I happened to notice a new and a better plan and wanted to switch onto the new plan. I have received numerous phone calls telling me that the bill is correct but I have been disputing it since the policy was never made clear to me and now I am being asked to pay the bill for the mistake/crime I have not done. It has been a month and I have not received a resolution.
I am not in agreement with the current bill amount (bill number[protected] and I need the adjustment in this bill. I had migrated on to Rs. 799 plan from November 30th 2010. With this migration I should have the download limit of 4983 MB (546 MB for 1st 4 days and 4437 MB for next 26 days). For an excess download of 284 MB I should be paying Rs 57 (284xRs0.20). My bill should have been -> Rental - Rs. 796.07+ Rs 57 + Tax = Rs. 941. I don't know how this huge bill has been calculated and nobody made me aware of such calculations.
After filing the complaint I had received a call from Rahul (Airtel representative) explaining me the bill as per Airtels Pro-ration policy (which is neither explained anywhere nor told), however, I kept telling him that the same explanation is not given anywhere and nobody has ever told me the same. He informed me that such things are not explained over the phone since it will take 1 hr 30 minutes for the Airtel representative to explain this to the customer and 15 pages on the bill. I told him that it is the companys responsibility to inform the customer about the pro-ration of bills (with working example). The customer should be made aware so that he can plan the switch to another tariff plan accordingly and not run into huge bills with no customers fault. Also, I did pay Rs. 2288 last month since I knew that was due to excessive usage. If I would have known that pro-ration process/calculation I would not have switched on to another plan.
I had also received a phone call from telephone number[protected] offering Rs. 500 discount as goodwill gesture. Please be informed that I shall not be able to pay more than Rs. 1200 (including tax) for the mistake I have not done.
