[Resolved] Airtel — Discontinuation of connection | |||
I had an Airtel fixed line connection no. [protected] till Nov 2010. I asked for its discontinuation on 26 Nov and was told that the needful will be done in 5 days. I kept on receiving your calls but the number was not discontinued till 12 Dec. On 12 Dec I was told that i have accepted to keep the connection though I couldnt remember giving such an approval. I again asked to remove my connection. I again got your calls on every alternate day and then they stopped. Again in Jan 2011 I wrote a mail to discontinue my connection and again got a few calls and a reference number. I kept on getting the bills too though I was not using the phone anymore. After some days i got a call from Airtel saying that my bill has been wavered off and phone will be discontinued. Somewhere in April i got a call asking whether i have submitted my modem back to Airtel. They said they will send their representative to collect the same, though no one came. Now I am getting some calls from Airtel saying i have Rs.1200 bill due and cancellation will follow as soon as I submit the bill. They were trying to finesse me to pay the amount and not go to consumer forum saying that "it is just 1200 only" and "do u have the time to go to consumer forum". I don't know what kind of marketing strategy are they following but it is no way consumer friendly.
