AirTel — Cancellation of number
I had a Airtel prepaid connection, number [protected].I have now been informed that my number is DNX, Does Not Exist.
I am further informed that even though I have a Lifetime validity, I failed to pay the annual renewable charge of Rs. 222.
When I paid the for the Lifetime Validity, I was not informed of this renewal fee. I an aware of Caveat Emtor( Buyer Beware ). However I am also aware that if an offer has conditions attached, the Vendor must state Conditions Apply.
If I do not get a satisfactory reply, I will be constrained to move the Consumer Court for relief.
AirTel — Cancellation and Bill
Hi,I had an Airtel internet connection (Account No:[protected] with telephone number [protected] which we installed when my son was in India for some time. Since he was the only one using, after he went back to Japan, we decided to cancel the connection. So I made a call to Airtel customer care on 10th of May 2010. It was received well and I was told the connection will be removed in a weeks time. I was told that an executive will come to collect a cheque of my dues pending and engineer would eventually remove the connection in a weeks time.
I received a call from one of their executive after 2-3 days asking me to keep the connection for which I said no as it was of no use. Then they suggested me to transfer it to someone I know (Ownership transfer), for which I asked them to give me 2 days time so that I can ask my relatives if anyone was interested. Meanwhile the executive said he would keep the cancellation open for that 2 days. Since no one was interested I asked the executive to cancel the account when he called back 2 days later. He said in a weeks time the engineers will come to collect the instrument and the cheque.
No one came for the next 2 weeks so I called again and asked the status. The executive on the phone told me it will be done. Till 30th there was no one at my house so I called again and to my surprise the man on the phone told me that their executive came to my place and I asked them to cancel the cancellation process. I was a blatant lie. If they claim I ask them to please provide the proof.
I thought maybe the reason for this was since I have not paid the outstanding bill of Rs.999. So I went and paid. At last after a month they came to pick the instruments.
Now I am being given another bill. I simply do not understand why does it take Airtel 3 months to disconnect an internet connection. Is it to make another one last bill so that they can earn and torment the customers. Please let me know.
Regards

Airtel is very famous for these kind of activities. When you pay them online, they still send person to home asking for payment. When you cancel their service, they feel offended and start to harass you with extra amount that you have never used for. I am seriously not happy with the services as they have started to behave like BSNL... I am yet to receive any response for my cancellation which I did in sept. If they tried to harass me... i will sue them in consumer court...
