People are talking more about North Indian being harassed at mumbai. But has anyone ever talked about harassment of non Kannadigas at Bangalore ? Ask the people who are living there. I am going to present the series of few short stories here and inviting discussion / comments. Last post was regarding Driving license issue problem. This is in reference to Auto drivers Bangalore auto driver is world famous for their cunningness (sorry but I thought it is the best word to describe them.) once you talk to them in Non-Kannada, they will never ready to go at meter fare. always twice or more than twice to meter rate. Here is a small incidence One of my known person were going to Chennai on Thursday, was with his wife and 1 year. It was 9.15 pm. They wanted to have an auto from Koramangala, Sarjapur road, Bangalore. They have asked 3 people all said Rs 250/- (whopping 3 times than meter fare). At last we got an auto who agreed to take us to railway station for 1.5 times fare. They reached station at 10.15 pm and found electronic meter showing Rs 90 /-. The guy taken out two notes of Rs 100 each. Auto person suddenly started asking for Rs 200 /- more than double fare. He denied and auto person started quarreling. He asked for meter card or / and police. Auto driver started threatening and called other auto drivers to join. Seeing many auto driver gathering, He asked his wife to go little far from the place as daughter was just 1 year old. His wife stood 50 meter away from the place. After 5 minutes of quarrel, auto driver snatched both notes and ran away with auto. They were not able to do anything except noting number of auto i.e. KA 02 AA ****. This haened on the 7th of august 2008 while coming back from garuda to vijayanagar. It usually takes rs.66-70 but the digital meter in this auto was very fast and we had to pay rs.100. On bringing it to his notice that his meter was very fast, he started abusing us . The name of the auto driver was Huchappam DL.No. 23854, badge no. 54170 and no. plate no. KA 02 D 9556. We want action to be taken immediately and we want to be informed about the action taken because this is not the first time we have encountered such an incident.
Bangalore — Complaint
FHPL is obsolutely idiotic and stupid company. I would suggest rather claiming the money from FHPL you can just leave them as it is. FHPL are not enough fast to claim the money back. There is a chronic problem to be tacked as regards auto drivers in Bangalore. Even if the basic metre fare is hiked to 14 Rs none of them ever agree to take us . The Problem gets worst in the evening giving excuses like heavy traffic, etc. Is there an answer to this. are they free to be scott free harassing passengers on everyday basis?

this sunday i was coming back from church .. thought i'll take a rick home, i told the rick guy .. my house is near to nanda theater, (jayanagar, banglore).. he gladly agreed, but when he came near the signal .. he started shouting at me because i asked him to take a right from the signal, said that he finds it difficult to turn the rick, which is the most stupid thing i have heard, and that he doesn't get passengers from the other side, he was so rude!!! at the end of the day i had to pay him the fare and didn't get dropped home... but i got the rick number ka 02 7755. Nowdays auto drivers are behavng veryu nasty they are just interested in going longways.people have to stand for so long to get a rickshaw.If this is plight of rikshaws, then we shd stop and start some other mod of transport.

I have reported this number to police but no action. No wonder Police is really active here.

hello, this is mansa.., i want to complaint against one auto driver.. i came by that auto this wednesday, i had kept my luggage bag behind my seat . while getting down from the auto i forgot to take that bag .even auto driver didnot remind me .I waited him for 2 days where i got down ie., in GandhiNagar . But he did not come. I can recognise him if I see him again. But I am not sure I will get my bag back .Please suggest me something .

Hello,I would like to draw your attention towards a concern I faced today. We took an auto, Number KA 05 1424 from KSRTC busstand to Billekahalli, Bannerghatta road. The autowala took us for a trip of the whole city and finally when it reached the destination, meter read 26.7 KM, Amount Rs 189/-.
It was clear that the meter reading is wrong and we asked the autowala to check that. We found that the distance between Jayadeva flyover and our stop is 3.5 KM on his meter which always comes to < 2KM otherwise. When we pointed that out, the autodriver started misbehaving with us and demanded Rs 250/- (since it was after 10 PM and we agreed on a 1.5 times meter mode). We had a fight and finaly gave in, giving him the full money. However minutes later he came back saying we still havent paid in full and demanded another Rs 100. Since it was dark and lonely place, after a long fight (autowala abusing us in Kannada) we gave in.
Is this the kind of service we should have in mind from now on? The basic thumb rule for 1.5 times meter is I guess a correct meter and the shortest route, neither of which has been followed.
I request you to kindly take up our concerns seriously and take proper action against such auto drivers before mone passengers are cheated.

Auto Driver — Demanding more money for hiring Auto
The driver of an Auto has demanded Rs.100/- from Brigade road to BTM, when it was raining.Meter cost will be just around Rs50/-.

I too faced a problem recently .. I was walking my way to home from electronic city mainroad. Usually they charge 40 bucks for the 2 km. but I prefered to walk that day.. I had covered 75% of the distance when an auto came with 1 passenger in it.. he asked if I was coming, and I asked if they are on the same route and said yes and I got in.. usualy they take 10 Rs to and from the main road, if it was not a called auto. when I finally got down at my place and offered 10 Rs which is for less than 500 meters for an auto which another passenger called and I never did, he started asking for 30 bucks.. I just gave him 10 Rs and started walking.. he was shouting from behind.. but I was too tired to punch him on his nose. .. just showed my middle finger and moved on..
on 4rd may 2009 around 6:00pm, I was passing thru jaydeva flyover on my bike with my girlfriend .I just crossed signal below the flyover, when one auto wala came from back and started abusing me.According to him I was talking to my girlfrnd rather than driving my bike properly.Then I also started hurling abuses on him.suddenly he stopped his auto besides me and pushed my Bike.We were just about to fell from the bike.After that, I also became furious, hence i parked my bike i asked him to come out of rick.I was about to thrash him wen i saw, many autodrivers coming towards me.
I had to leave that place immediately as I had already witnesses an incident in the past, in which my friend was brutally beaten up by the autodrivers with rod for mearly telling for telling the rickwala that he was charging more than the actula fare.I don't know why bangalore police is with these autowala, perhaps they are expressing their regional chauvinism .This kind of problem exists in north india also but the believe me the condition here is grave.These auto wallas are associated with many henious crime as well such as prostituon, robberry etc.I really don't know when these politicians and police people, who claim to make bangalore safer, will come into action.

I arrived at kempegowda bus stand at 5:30 am in the morning after a pleasant tour of OOTY. I wanted to take auto from majestic to Basaweswarnagar(SBI Officers Colony). All the auto demanded whoopin Rs. 150 and above. Finally one Auto driver agreed to feery us @ 1.5 of the metered reading. I agreed to this generous offer of the Auto Driver. Normally the meter reading is anywhere betwen Rs. 40-45 but this time the metered fare was Rs. 61.5 for the same route i normally take. So the i was supposed to pay fare @ 1.5 times on the normal fare that would have come roughly around Rs. 60 to 67 but i paid fare on 1.5 times on the already 1.5 times of the normal fare (paid amount Rs. 93.00 ).
I told him about the faulty meter reading which he laughed at. I have noted the registration number of the auto KA 02- 8569. Awaiting response from the nodal authority for corrective measures.

These all auto drivers really loot people. yesterday i came from Majestic to koramangala at night after getting down from night bus. we were 5 people, so took two autos. First they asked for 2 times than fair. somehow i managed to get them agreed in 1.5 which is normal at night. First auto started his meter and asked 2nd one not to start. i asked that 2nd auto driver why didn't he switch his meter on then he replied that 1st one already has turned on. I again asked that whether his meter is right..he told yaya thats correct meter. You can't believe from majestic bus station to koramangala their meter showed 130 rupees. since i agreed to pay 1.5 times, i forced to pay 195rs to each auto driver. when i asked him that his auto meter reading is not correct. he started discussing that it is correct, you dont know..and blabla...then i left for home without having any option. Why is bangalore police dumb on such incidents?.
Whether you are a kannadiga, tamilian, telugu guy or any other person does not matter to these auto drivers. They are here to suck money. The police is hand in hand with these guys. And u cant quarel with them as all auto drivers are hand in hand with each other. They will come and beat you up and nobody will stop them. They are worst than rowdies. And no point complaining everywhere, nobody will care about your complaint. There is only one solution stop travelling in autos( i dont the alternative to auto). There is a saying in kannada " Dushtarinda dhooraviru"- stay away from bad people.
Yes totally agree with Aksh. Better solution is to boycot travelling in autos in entire bangalore. Stop travelling by them. I hope the public transport becomes more comfortable and efficient. Lets hope the metro comes as fast as possible then we can just ged rid of these rowdies
All this writings, blogging, complaints for years havent helped anyone- the police are hand in glove, and dont even take down an FIR against these rowdies.
Its time to change this all- I say, Lynch a few of them!
