Auto Rickshaw service — Auto - Faulty meter

The meter was faulty and the rickshaw charged excessive amount. Date - 14/05/2008. Rickshaw number MH 03R 4992.

I was traveling from Kurla to Chembur and generally it costs Rs 40-45 max. However the meter at the end read Rs 60.

Please take some actions against such crook auto's.

I was travelling by this AUTORIKSHAW no : MH03 AA 7148, from Pant Nagar Police Station to Airoli Toll Naka, the normal fare for this route is Rs.63 to 65 only., but this Autoriskshaws meter was showing me Rs.90/- and the driver was demanding Rs.85 from me, which I never gave, I gave only Rs.65/- Is there somebody to look into this, especially this routes, all the rikshaw's meter are fast and every now and then, we have to fight.

Hiring Auto Rickshaw at Majestic — Unruly behaviour of Auto Driver

I had boarded the Auto on 19.11.2009 at 10 am (KA-03/A 7430; Auto Driver's name as printed in the sheet pasted inside auto: Puttaswamy) from Bangalore Majestic Bus stand to Satellite Bus station to catch a bus to Salem. While agreeing for the trip, Mr. Puttaswamy said that I have to pay as per the meter reading at the destination. On reaching the busstand, the digital meter showed Rs.60/-. When I tendered Rs.100/- note, he returned me just Rs.10/- saying that he would charge 1.5 times the meter reading. He took complete advantage of my inability to communicate in kannada.

When I cautioned him that I would lodge a police complaint, he said, "elli bekkithare hogu. Police nanna enu madakkahalla" Then he took his auto and moved away quickly from the bustsand entrance.

The driver is aware that I can not continue to live in Bangalore to follow up this complaint.

The very purpose of my complaint is to ensure that such fellows should be warned by police to protect the travellers. I trust that police department would take a note of my complaint and warn the driver to desist from this practice.

Auto Rickshaw service — services denied

dear sir,
my daughter goes to school via an auto. as my daughter is in 10th standard the auto driver asked me to pay fees of two months together.
for this he gave me reason that afterwards parents have a problem in paying so i agreed to it and paid him fees of two months together. in December the fees for whole year was completed. now there is no response from the driver and as it happens he works alone. i have been trying to contact him from past one month but his mobile network is always busy.
neither i can get my refund nor i am able to contact him.
please suggest a possible solution for my problem as soon as possible

Auto Rickshaw — bad service

I live at Andheri on S V Road. Since the last few months the auto drivers refuse to ferry people from my area. Most of the autos go empty but will not halt for you. They refuse to goto where ever we want. Keeping the meter half down. Everyone in my area is complaining of the same. I hope the RTO looks into the matter as soon as possible.

I hired the auto from Frazer Town to inner ring road near Dell , he asked 10 Ruppes extra and upon reaching I noticed that the Meter was showing a figure of 70 Rupees, where as I am a daily user of auto service and usually the meter fare is 55- 57 Rupees.

The driver charged me 100 Rupees 70 Meter reading revised w.e. f 90 and 10 extra become 100

from 1st aug i have been paying 70 as per the new rates 56 meter reading and difference of old and new meter 14 Rupees become 70 but today this person charged me Rupees 100

My complain is to check his mter which is electronic but faulty showing a 30 % extra over the normal meter reading and he has asked 10 Rupees extra

I hired the auto from Majestic to indira nagar, double road, he asked 20 Ruppes extra and upon reaching I noticed that the Meter was showing a figure of 143 Rupees, where as I am a daily user of auto service and usually the meter fare is 92-97 Rupees.

The driver charged me 180 Rupees 143 Meter reading revised w.e. f 160 and 20 extra become 180

My complain is to check his mter which is electronic but faulty showing a 30 % extra over the normal meter reading and he has asked 20 Rupees extra, and he dint use the proper route to reach the place,
when i note is licence no, he told hat it goverment auto u cant do nothing with his no...

Here i mention is Licence no :21143

I worked at Bandra (east) last two days the auto drivers not agree to come @ bandra railway station. people from my area they all face same problem Most of the autos go empty but will not ready to go Bandra Railway Station. They refuse to goto where ever we want. Keeping the meter half down. Everyone in my area is complaining of the same. I hope the RTO looks into the matter as soon as possible.. Auto Rickshaw — Harassment & demanding extra charge

Dear Sir/Madam,

Today morning i (single person w/o any luggages) took an auto from Majestic to Vidyapeetha circle. During negotiation i promised to pay Rs. 60/- and auto driver was demanding meter charges plus Rs. 10/- extra.
As happened many past experiences i dont wanted to indulge in argument with auto drivers and i firmly said if he is ready to accept 60/- Rs i will board his auto else i will manage to find other.

When he arrived to destination, i handed over him 100/- Rs note and asked the return amount. At first he started to say no change, i gave him 10/- Rs note and asked to return me 50/- Rs. In the mean time i was also looking for change from the people on the road. As the other auto came and he gave the change of two fifties notes (100/ Rs change), he started to shout and said i had agreed to pay him 70/- Rs. to my surprise !!!!
I was firm and said this is not the right way and he started to scold me abusively as well as trying to harass me physically. I tried my best to stay courageously and tried to not to accept his brutality of harassing the customers.

Even after accepting his fair he came back to me and threatening to beat me. Also challenging me if i dare to talk to him or see him.
I just noted down his auto number KA -05, AA 1132. The driver details board was not clear and his name was not visible.


This kind of behavior by Auto drivers has become the routine now days. Especially if you take to Auto from/To Majestic & Railway stations.

Sir, we the common people are really looking out for your help in this regard.

Auto Rickshaw Extra Fare — Against Auto Rickshaw Extra Fare demand

Hi All,

Auto Rikshaw fares hikes in bangalore has no control and public suffering in all parts of bangalore day and night. Usually in front of all IT Companies the demand is more from auto drivers who argues and harrasses if the driver demands are not fullfilled.

Mainly near Hebbal - Manyatha Tech park - Nagawara Ring road drivers demans 40 Rs. from Hebbal fly over to Manyata park. Actual price will be mininmum charge of 17 rs. They wont agree for 20 rs. too. Also they argues to pay 80 to 100 to go inside Manyata park. They get double advantage. Once they come inside they charge same 100 rs to go out when passengers come. But drivers say no passengers will be here. . .and empty handed they hav to go is thier demand. But both ways they earn money causing big problems to public.

Money has its own value..and not all IT'ians can spend their hard earned money unnecessarily to these people. Almost all drivers behave rudly if money is not paid upto their demands.

Request the concerned to take strict action.

Its, good that you know the fares... For someone like me, who is new to Bangalore does not even know how much would be the fare. A friend referred me www.taxiautofare.com, which I want to share with you all...

The website helps one calculate the Auto and Taxi fares, before travelling. They also show a detailed Google Map with the route... At least you know what is the actual fare. If nothing, can help your bargain better...

I stay in Banashankari and I often use to go to Art of Living Ashram which is located on Kanakhapura Road. Due to emergency situation, I picked the Auto from the ashram towards Banashankari. The driver already said that He will take me to the destination with meter charges. I said, okay. As soon as we reached to Banashankari then he started shouting on me saying that He needs more money. The fare was come to 120Rs. but he was demanding 300Rs which was very surprising. He then called his few friends who are also drivers and tried to convence me. When he called his friends, then he rounded his meter to null where he was telling to other people that i have fixed the auto for 300Rs and I am not paying him. That was disgusting, and I dont know Kannada also. It was flustrating, and then one guy came and he told so many things in Kannada to the driver and then driver left me.

The driver was not having any license plate in the auto with very old meter, the auto number is KA 05 - 0685.

I don't think that this kind of guys will stop these behaviour, and most of the people doesnt bother about it.

Bangalore Auto Rickshaw — tampered meter

I was travelling from dreamhonda showroom on whitefiled road to kundanahalligate. The distance comesunder minimum for auto fare thats is 17 rs. But this rickshaws meter was showing 33 rs. When i asked about the issue he was rude in replying and argued that it was proper fare.
