[Resolved]  Godrej Interio - Modular Kitchen — Defective material from Godrej Interio and delay in installation even after 50 days of payment

We had made payment of Rs 171086 to Kumar Enterprises, distributor at Thane for Godrej Interio, for modular kitchen on 14th March 2010. It was written on the memo that the delivery and installation would be done within 4-5 weeks (maximum). Whereas verbally we were told that it will all be done within 4 weeks.

The first tranche of material came to our place on 9th of April 2010 (after 27 days) after a lot of follow-up and it has been more than 25 days since then but the installation is not completed. Since then, atleast 7 times some irrelevant and unwanted material has flooded our place and has gone back. All the materials they have used is damaged with dents (i mean it) and the alignment of whatever incomplete structure they have installed is not proper. There is huge and unacceptable gap between the doors of the cabinets. The side panels which we have been billed for is not installed. At some places even the back panel is missing!

The people who come for installation come to our place at 4:30 - 5 pm and just install a defective drawer or cabinet and wind-up for the day. At times they come at 1 pm and then sit idle for the whole day saying that they don't have the requisite material. Our kitchen is in-operative since last 4 weeks because of the mess they have created there. Also, since the kitchen work is taking so long we can't shift and have to continue paying rent for old apartment as well.

The dealer who had made big big promises that he would himself come for installation is very rude and is not ready to listen to our complaints and says we are lying. The excuse he makes is it has all come from the company.

After fighting for our money for days and weeks together, and giving up hope, we even spoke to the Modular Kitchen Sales Head at the company but there seems to be no action from him as well. He was as useless as the dealer himself. He too committed and re-committed and committed again. But none of his commitments were fulfilled. The day we were supposed to get the delivery of the rest of the material and the installation was to be completed, nothing happened. In the evening we get a call saying that they want to come home to do a "stock check". Can you believe this? Despite 2 (TWO) stock checks, we are yet to get the complete material as of today (3rd May 2010). The Modular Kitchen Sales Head neither answers my call nor calls back.

First of all they use our money for so many days before delivering the material. After that, the installation takes so much of time that we have to take leave that too at loss of pay. And the end result is incomplete and defective structure not even 50% of what a mediocre kitchen maker would deliver.

They have promised us a warranty of 15 years. From our experience, we don't even expect them to serve their promise for 15 days.

All we want now is the mess to be removed from our kitchen and refund of amount we have paid.
