Sir,

I am writing you because of all the bad experiences I have had using the credit card of Barclay Bank.

I request you to kindly go through my call log history (the calls witch I have been making to your customer care phone number).

Also, even after dropping the monthly payment cheques in the designated drop box, it fails to reach your bank on time and very conveniently your bank charges late payment charges and over limit chares to the customer.

I have few points which I am noting down:

1. Your customer care number are in-accessible, even the new numbers you have recently had for Mumbai/Pune customers.

2. After making monthly payments, which also reflect in my account, I keep on receiving calls from your recovery department. In the month of Feb'08, I received 29 calls from your side confirming my payments. I had given the details of the cheque which I had issued to you, but the calls didn’t stop for next 15 days. This has left me with a very negative impression about your bank.

3. Please check my payment history, since Oct'2007. I have been consistent in my payments, avoiding interest charges, and making payments well in time.

4. The statement for March 2008, reflects additional charges of about Rs.700 + for late payments and over limit charges.

5. I refuse to accept these charges as I had dropped ICICI bank cheque (no. 780007, dt: 7th March 2008, Amt: Rs.15000/-) at your drop box facility at Mayur Colony, Kothrud, Pune, on the 13th March 2008..

6. Your customer care executives say that they have received the cheque on 17th March 2008, which was the last date for the payments to be done from my side.

7. Why was the cheque not received by you earlier, as I had dropped it on the 13th March 2008?

8. Further, my history of payments suggests that I have been regular in payments.

9. Even though you received the cheque on 17th March 2008, why was it cleared from my bank only on 24th March? There were no bank holidays in that period.

10. I suggest, you should re-check and monitor the efficiency levels of you drop box collection agency, before you charge the customer late payment charges.

11. I refuse to accept these late payment charges which you have added to my account.

12. This has caused me loss of reputation and mental agony.

13. I request you to reverse the charges and also request you to be fair with your customers.

14. I also had asked for a credit enhancement, which has been denied by your bank. I would request you to look in this matter as well.

I am not trying to become difficult, but these experiences have left me in bitter taste regarding the service of you bank.

Should I, at the least, expect a PROMT reply for this?

Barclay card — Charging Unnecessary charges

I applied for Cancellation of my credit card two months back, but they are not cancelling, , saying unncessary reasons..
i canced ECS facility from that bank on Jan8, but still they are charging me
if i call the customer care, they simply give the reference number, we wil get back widin one week
if i call after one week, they will give one more reference number
here one more fun
i dont know why there are Chared for ECS, i dont have any loan from them,
its worst to cal customer care of barclays... realy i frustated by calling them.. No solutions. only we lost our Phone bill..

Threatening and Torturing through Goonda hired by Barclays Bank.

Dear Sir,

This is to inform you that I am the Credit Card Holder of Barclay Bank. They have not sent the statement for last 01 year in spite of several requests through mail and over phone. My purchase amount approximately was Rs.5000/- to Rs.6000/-. But before settling my dues I want them to furnish me statement of account, on which I can make the minimum amount due against my outstanding as per the Credit Card rules of the Bank. I doubt that they must have inflated due amount by levying unduly high interest, late fees, unnecessary service charges etc. But suddenly they have invalidated my card. Not only that they have hired a Goonda (Goons) named as Mr. Walia from Delhi and asking for payment of full amount immediately which as per this goonda is hovering around Rs.15000/-. How can I make the payment immediately ? He is threatening and torturing me over mobile Phone and land line phone. Not only that he has threatened me that he will kill my family. What is this ???. Bank cannot do this legally this type of harassment. He is disturbing my Employer also., which is affecting my mental peace. I am a middleclass family. I agree to pay the minimum amount due in monthly basis against my outstanding as per the Credit card rules of the Bank. I am asking for statement. But he is denying to give me the statement. Continuously he is telling me to make the payment at a time, otherwise they will attack me and my family with their team . Please help me and my family from Goonda of Barclay bank. I think only because of raising late payment fees and service charges and to raise the higher bill, they have made this type of incident. I am 100% agree to pay the minimum amount due against my total outstanding. Gradually I will pay the amount to Bank., but not at a time. Please spare me from this Goonda which has been hired by Barclay bank that is completely illegal. For your information, I have been receiving these threatening calls from [protected], [protected].

Subject: Fraud done by Barclays India.

Respected Sir,

I am writing you because of all the bad experiences I have had using the credit card of Barclay Bank.

I am a holder of your Barclays Card. Card No.: [protected] this card was issue to me in December 2007. I have 5 Credit Cards from ICICI (I have been dealing with ICICI since last 3-4 years without any issues), 1 from HSBC & 1 from Kotak Mahindra. But Barclays was my most preferred card and I use to use it everywhere. The only issue was Barclays was not having an online payment option for ICICI bank users, so I use to drop my bill payment cheques 5 days in advance to the due date so that my card payment is not delayed. Everything was going on fine, after 4-5 months I recd. a statement including Rs.500 (or Rs.600, I don’t remember it) as delayed charges, on enquiring I was informed that my payment was delayed, although I had dropped the cheques well in advance. I paid the amount (although it was not my fault) thinking it can be logistic issue. Then again after 2-3 months I was billed another delayed payment charge for no fault of mine, I paid that as well, because I wanted to use this card. Then after 2-3 months again the same issue, Barclays did not recd. the payments wherein I had dropped the cheques for payment well 7 days in advance at Shiv Shakti Enterprises at S.V.Road, Malad (W). I made many calls to your customer care center and they were not aware of the payment status and they would refer me to Collection dept. and they were not aware of the status. I was bombarded with SMS & calls to make the payment. I had given the details of the cheques, which I had issued, to you, but the calls didn’t stop for next 15 days. This has left me with a very negative impression about your bank. I did not stop the cheque that went missing by Barclays, as I was not provided any whereabouts the cheques. I decided that this is the limit I won’t make the payment till the issue is settled. I emailed my grievance to Ms. Meera Rawat (Head Customer Grievance) twice. I recd. the call from Barclays stating that delayed amount is cancelled and I can make my payment as a new bill will be mailed to me. I got the new bill but rather than the deduction of the amount, an additional charge was imposed with a new delayed payment charges and it kept on mounting, as nobody was interested in fixing the issue so I did not made any further payment.

BUT THIS WAS NOT THE END… MY SUFFERING CONTINUED.

On 22-March-09 (or 23-March) a representative from Barclays came and asked for the payment. I informed him that till the issue related with the payment is fixed, I would not make any payment. He said that my account is being closed and the total sum that I have to pay is Rs.12, 000/- and so he has came for collecting the first part of the payment, as there was no prior intimation given to me about the changes, He called up his manager Mr. Rakesh Shetty, I explained him my issues and he said that fine we are closing Barclays is closing my account on the payment of Rs.12, 000/- (3 x 4000/-) . I asked him to give me the time for arranging the money, I called him again on[protected] informing him that I cannot make the payment of Rs.4000/- as of now as it is the end of the month and that I can make the payment from next month onwards, he said that as he have to show the account report, hence I have to make the payment. So again I called him on 26-March-09 informing him that I am paying Rs.1000/-. He said that I can make the payment and from next month onwards he will make the split amount and he will give the closing letter as well. So, an executive GANESH came and collected the first payment. Then on 28-April-2009 I recd. the call for making the second payment from Barclays. That girl name was Deepika, she told me to make the second payment, and again as I was not having the closing letter so I made a payment of the Rs.1000/-. I was informed that once my payment of Rs.12, 000/- is completed, I will be provided with a letter from Barclays regarding the closure of account, so similarly I made a payment of Rs.1000/- in month of May-09 and Rs.1010/- for the month of June-09. My account was settled for Rs.12, 000/- (Rs.1000/- for first six months & Rs.3000/- for next two Months). All these payments are reflected in my Barclays accounts. On 30-June-09 I got the call from an executive named Aamir from Barclays enquiring about the payment, I told him that I have made my payment for the month of June-09, he said that I still have to make a payment of Rs.1, 900/- more for this month’s minimum amount due. I was also told that there is no record of my account being settled for Rs.12, 000/- and that I have to make a complete payment for Rs.19, 000/- plus on my account. I was also informed that the settlement letter is given before the first payment is made. This was a very serious setback that I got. On one hand Barclays authorized recovery agents are collecting the payments without giving me settlement letter since last 4 months for the account closure and on the other hand, my account is still on with all kind of late fees and ever-increasing interest charges.

Hence I would like to request you to please look into this matter ASAP and fix it. For your kind information, as I don’t trust Barclays I had recorded the call that I made to Rakesh Shetty for the first payment on 25-March-09 & 26-March-09 wherein he confirmed that my account is being closed for Rs.12, 000/-. I have recorded the call for the second payment wherein I spoke with Deepika. I also have a recorded the call that I recd. from Aamir from Barclays wherein I was informed that my account was not closed.

Sorry to say but the fact is that Barclays have the worst ever billing and collection service that I have ever experienced. Based on experience that’s what I would like to say and to add to this, I am and I will not recommend Barclays to any one in my life. Also would like to inform you that your customer care number is in accessible, even the new numbers you have recently had for Mumbai customers. Also I refuse to accept any kind of additional charge and the interest charges. I suggest, you should re-check and monitor the efficiency levels of you drop box collection agency, before you charge the customer late payment charges.


Awaiting a justified and quick response from you, before I proceed to Consumer court, Media to get this issue addressed. Because of this I am very aggravated and this behavior from Barclays has caused me loss of reputation and mental agony. I am not trying to become difficult, but these experiences have left me in bitter taste regarding the service of you bank.


Also for your kind information,

Let me give you two more examples of the brilliant service provided by Barclays:

(1) 4-5 days back i had recd. the call from Barclays for this month's payment, when i informed him that i have been advised not to make the payment, that care rep. started arguing with me.

(2) On Date :[protected] i have recd. a letter from Manager - Card Collection stating " Please note that information of your default has been shared with Credit Information Bureau India Ltd. (CIBIL). This may impact your credit history and futher borrowing capacity." .

This was the final Nail on the coffin. Give me one good reason for not exposing your fraud to media, file complain against your service and posting out your details of your excellent customer service provided by Barclays on web.

AND TO TOP IT:

Hi,

Today on 23-July-2009 a recovery agent with the name of Harish Madan (Mobile No.:[protected]), came to collect THIS MONTH'S CHARGE. When i informed him that i have been advised by your care rep. not to make any payment till the time he called me up to give the details (as per my conversation with your Care Rep. Aamir on 06-July-09). HE BEGAN ARGUING THAT IT IS FOR SETTLEMENT AMOUNT. Then he called up a manager in BARCLAYS JAVED KHAN (MOBILE NO.: [protected]), WHO WANT TO ME TO GIVE HIM THE COMPLETE DETAILS, I TRIED TO EXPLAIN HIM ABOUT THE DISPUTE AND ALSO THAT I HAVE RAISED THE COMPLAIN REGARDING THE DISPUTE AND HAVE RECD. AN EMAIL FROM THE 'MANAGER - CUSTOMER SERVICE' THAT THEY ARE PROBING IN THIS CASE AND WANT SOME TIME, WHEN HE HEARD THIS HE TONE CHANGED TO RUDENESS AND THREATHENING AND HE ASKED ME TO PROVIDE HIM THE NO. OF THE MANAGER WITH WHOM I HAVE SPOKEN, WHEN I INFORMED HIM THAT I DO NOT HAVE THE PHONE NOS. (BECAUSE I AM IN CONVERSATION THROUGH EMAIL), HE CONTINUED SHOUTING AND ARGUING IN THE SAME RUDE AND THREATHENING BEHAVIOUR.

NOW I AM NOT FEELING SAFE AND I AM PLANNING TO LOG A COMPLAIN AGAINST THAT AGENT, HIS MANAGER AND MAYBE BARCLAYS (who on one hand advised me not to make any payment and to wait and on the other hand send an agent to collect the settlement amount with a manager who is threathening).

So, Just wanted to inform you about the same and wanted your advise on this. Make sure that till the time to finish this probing, STOP SENDING THIS RECOVERY AGENT WHO COMES TO COLLECT THE PAYMENT FOR SETTLEMENT. Trust me If i get one more person on my door for this nonsense before you reply, it won't be good, i am not threathening you, but only warning you, because now it's the time that your behaviour has become intolerable.

*** LET ME JUST REMIND YOU THAT I AM NOT YOUR SERVANT OR AN EMPLOYEE. I AM YOUR CUSTOMER WITH WHOM YOU HAVE DONE DEFAULT, ON TOP OF THAT IF YOUR AGENT AND MANAGER WILL SPEAK WITH ME IN A RUDE MANNER AND THREATHENING TONE, IT WILL BE COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE ****

I want a reply ASAP to know why the hell is this happening.

BARCLAYCARD (Credit Cards) — unnecessary charging overlimit charges

Hi,

I want to surrender my Barclays Card ([protected]) as i am not happy with the services i am getting.

Initially, when the card was issued to me my credit limit was 58,000 INR and later it got reduced to 35,000 without any notification and again it got reduced to 29,000 and that is also without any notification.

When i used my card for the whole amount i.e. 29,000 (as i was not aware of the limit), and there after Barclays is charging me the over limit charges for the last four months which is not logical as far as i think. I have requested them to provide me the settlement amount which they have denied to provide.

I have requested them couple of times and marked them an email couple of times but they are saying that i have to pay the whole amount as bank is not providing the settlement amount so that i can pay that amount and close this card.

Please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
