Address:Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh

To,
Union Minister,
Ministry of Railways,

India.

SUB : COMPENSATION DEMAND OF 1.5LACS AGAINS RAILWAY THEFT OF OUR BAGGAGE FROM TRAIN DATED 14.4.2013.

SIR,

My wife Mrs. Kavita Yadav, my son Mr. Nitaaksh Yadav and myself Mr. Anurag Yadav lost our Blue Colour Sky Bag Trolley dated 14.4.2013 from BSB ADI EXP(Train No. 19408) from Coach S2(25/28) wide PNR no. [protected] at around 1am in night. We were asleep while the theft was carried out. We woke up at around 2 am and came to know that we have lost our baggage. When enquired with the passengers in our Coach, two passengers were awake and told us that they saw the thief with our Blue Colour Trolley bag getting down at Bareilly station saying he has to catch another train. He was of short height in middle age of 35-45 and was wearing a cap.
Our belongings were worth 1.5lacs(1 gold mangalsutra,1gold chain, 2 gold hand rings, 2 gold ear rings, clothes worth 25k and bag of 4k). Approximate value of 1.5lacs and above.

There was no security personals of GRP or RPF or Squad present in the train as confirmed by the then TTE Mr. Arun Kumar. WHY????

We had filed a complain at the next station of Moradabad at around 3am and submitted and received a copy of the complain by constable Mr. Avnish Kumar of GRP in the presence of ASI of RPF Mr. Birendrasinh Bisht. There were 4-5 constables of GRP at the Moradabad station while we were writing the complain and few of them were LAUGHING as if they had not responsibilities to be fulfilled towards our complain. There were no contact details were we could complain in the train so that the investigation against the theft could be started immediately by the cops as it was hardly 1.5 hour since our baggage was lost.

We are middle class family working hard day and night to earn and fulfill our livelihoods. It feels very agonizing and painful when our HARD EARNED MONEY is simply taken away by a local group railway thief so easily and after that also no strong efforts being made by the cops against the crime.

Are the railway passengers responsible for the theft of their belongings in train while travelling???

How can any bloody thief get away so easily after doing a theft from the TRAIN. I think it’s a big and serious issue with the security of passengers and their belongings in INDIAN RAILWAYS. He will gain confidence and make another victim of his crime again and again.

HOW WILL THIS BE STOPPED???

WITH THE PRESENT EXPERIENCE , I DON’T THINK INDIA CAN EVER BECOMA A ZERO CRIME NATION AND SUCH CALOUS ATTITUDES OF THE RESPONSIBLE PUBLIC SERVANTS WILL ONLY ADD TO CRIMES OF THE NATION INSTEAD OF MINIMIZIING IT.

I STRONGLY DEMAND FOR COMPENSATION OF 1.5LACS OF MY BAGGAGE AND STRICT ACTION BEING TAKEN AGINST THE CRIMINAL.

YOURS FAITHFULLY,

ANURAG YADAV

Indian Railways — Missing security in Indian Railways at Night

I was travelling with my wife from New Delhi to Secunderabad on train # 2724, coach no A1, berth no 31 & 33 with pnr #[protected]. After the train left the bhopal station I caught a young sardarji red-handed trying to pick on my wife's purse. I raised an alarm which woke up my fellow passengers. The sardaji, who claimed his name was Sunny, was travelling on an upgraded general class ticket on HA1 16. He had no idendity card with him to prove his credentials. A sum of Rs. 2500 was missing for my wife's purse and on pursuing hard with him he ran back to his seat, fetched a black trolley bag, and gave us back our stolen sum of Rs. 2500 without much protest. The TC on duty Mr. Rajendra Singh was a witness to the incident and he asked me to look for an attendent nearby. I went to look for an attendemt and on my return found that the sardarji was missing. Presumably he wanted to go to the bathroom but managed to escape from the slowly-moving train before Itarsi but left his bag behind. The bag was later scrutinized by the GRP staff before Nagpur and a statement detailing the bag and the materials inside it was taken by them with me as one of the witness.

I think we could have handed over the thief to the GRP had we had a security staff on board to escort the thief. The TC could also have done better to help us rather than be a silent witness and allow the thief to escape unpunished.

I would kindly request the matter be brought into the attention of the higher authority in charge of security on train at night so that such incodents can be avoided in future and passengers feel much safer travelling on Indian Railways.

Kind regards,

Railways — Railway Thefts

Hi,

I was travelling on the andaman express travelling to chennai from vijaywada on 19th october at 1.00 a.m. My husband was with me.We got lower berths and we had just boarded the train and the train moved and since it was night we settled down to sleep. I kept my handbag under my head and there was this person who comes and snatches it and vanishes in matter of seconds as our seat was near the door. I jumped and ran behind him but there was no use. To my surprise, there was no railway police men for the reserved compartment at night. I lost my mobiles and Gold jewellery worth 30 thousand rupees and my wallet with PAN card and Driving license. We complained to the railway police but we did not receive any FIR number.

Indian Railway — Baggage theft by someone

Dear Sir,
I alongwith my wife were travelled from Bareilly to Ludhiana in Jalianwala bagh Exp train no-18103 on 1.12.11 in 3AC coach PNR NO [protected]. At Moradabad station somebody inside the coach has stolen my baggage from my seat and ran away. i have lodged the complaint at ludhiana station but still there is no rely to that. request you to please look into this matter and take necessary action as i lost my precious item in that luggage.

the main purpose for this request is to draw your attention towards duty of TTE. I have observed many times that in coach TTE don't check the tickets of all passenger present but only check the tickets of those passenger who have arrived from source station which doesn't solve the purpose of any doubtful passenger who is travelling without ticket on some seat.

Waiting for your reply as soon as possible.

Thanks
To Railway Minister,

New Delhi.
