[Resolved]  MakeMyTrip — Amount deducted and not refunded for failed air ticket booking

On 8th June, 2011, I tried to book an airticket from Trivandrum to Bangalore by Indigo Airlines with www.makemytrip.com . I tried paying with my Icici bank credit card an amount of Rs.2,834/-. Due to low session timeout (a technical defect in makemytrip.com) the session was timed out and I received a mail from makemytrip.com with following details:

Within a few minutes I received an alert from Icici bank that an amount of Rs.2,834/- was deducted from my credit card for the failed transaction. I immediately called the Customer Care division of makemytrip.com at[protected] and the Customer care representative informed me that the amount will be refunded shortly and there is no need to worry and transferred me to sales department for another booking. I was on hold for nearly 15 minutes and nobody from the sales department was responding to my calls. Since the flight was at 5.45 PM and since I had only 2 hours left, I tried the online booking again and it was successful. I received a booking confirmation mail from makemytrip.com with the following details:

A further amount of Rs.2,834/- was paid and the matter was again informed to their customer care. I informed icici bank credit card division regarding the debit for the failed transaction and to initiate a chargeback if makemytrip claimed the amount.

On 10th makemytrip claimed both the amounts and I called their customer care personnel Poonam Nagure (Call Reference No: 1106B05103) and she assured that the amount will be refunded within 48 hours. I received an e-mail from Chitra Jha (Reference No:[protected] stating the following:

Till 13th evening there was no response from makemytrip and I send an e-mail again and here is the reply I got from Chitra Jha on 14th June, 2011:

With reference to your email about the refund status for Booking ID IN1106B05103, we understand there has been a delay and we have forwarded your query to the concerned department. We request you to provide us 72 working hours to resolve the same. We will continue to follow up on the request to get your refund processed in due course.
=======================

48 hours has been revised to 72 working hours...I have send them all the relevant details and called them several times and still they are not refunding the amount wrongly deducted from my account for a failed transaction.

1. How can they charge me for a failed transaction???
2. How can a customer rely on makemytrip.com. An e-mail send to [protected]@makemytrip.com bounced.
3. If we call their customer care department we need to explain the whole story again even after providing the Reference ID. I called Roopali on 13th and even after providing a reference Id she was unable to understand what the matter is??? From this we can understand the way Customer relationship is managed at makemytrip.com . They have no proper systems in place and there is lack of professionalism.
4. Just now I have send an e-mail to Chitra Jha that I will wait for 72 working hours. After that I am going to approach the media (including Press and Televison) to make the public aware of the dangers hidden while dealing with makemytrip.com and their lack of customer care. I am going to approach the consumer court too. I need to get a reply on how they have charged me for a failed transaction???
5. I received a e-mail from my bank on 13th, that they have initiated charge back proceedings on makemytrip.com for the false claim.
6. We need to think twice before dealing with makemytrip.com . They work like a government organization with inordinate delay in refunding an amount which they have falsely claimed for a failed transaction.
7. I am waiting for their reply to initiate further steps and I will inform this forum regarding further developments.

Make My Trip — refund of air ticket

i got air ticket cancelled on 27/09/2009 with details as under

This is very shocking experience i got from Makemytrip. I was booked domestic ticket on 19th Feb 2010 (FLT[protected]).For Single Booking amount(Rs2994=00) was debited twice from my account. I talked to customer care they told me the amount will get credited on your account within two working days. With lots of disscussion one of the customer care executive agree that mistake has happen from their end only and will refund amount in 7 working days but almost 30 days over but still haven't received amount. I callled them again and i need to explain the whole story to that guy but still he is not agree with what i am saying he want me to send my bank statement again. This is rediculous.
Very worst service provider... go for yatra.com it is one of the best service provider...

Make My Trip — No refund after 8 working days

Never go for Maky My Trip.

I tried booking a flight ticket on 30-Jun-2010 through MakeMyTrip.com. The transaction failed two times and I lost Rs.11958/- in each transaction. My booking referance id is IN1006B12064. When I call the customer care I get a reply that the case has already been escalated to concerned dept and I will receive the refund within next 7 working days. I think the customer care executives have been trained to give this reply because I am so used to hearing it. I was also told that on 9-Jul-2010 I would get a response from accounts dept. But I never received any. On contacting the customer care I was assured of getting a response on 10-Jul-2010. This time also I was unlucky. On cantacting again they assured me of getting response from account dept on 12-Jul-2010.Guess what I was unlucky the third time. On 9-Jul-2010 I received the refund for the first transaction. Till now I have not received the refund for the second transaction. The customer care is pathetic that cannot give me Refund Reference Number.

Once again I adive every one to avoid Make My Trip. They donot value for the customer's money.

It is actually the ICICI payment ID (while making the flight booking) that you have provided. The bank has also confirmed that they donot have any pending amount in my account.

The case was already escalated to the concerned dept by 6-Jul. I was told that I would get a reply within 72 hrs, but I never received any reply till date. But I see that when I raise the issue in public domain atleast I get responses promptly. So does this mean, I should approach some other means (other than customer care support) to receive my refund.

It's regarding my refund money.
I have booked trip of kerala in december. After paying money thru netbankinfg,Mr .shailesh saxena (tele-caller from delhi, phone number - [protected]) said that air ticket is costly if pay fully thru netbanking. He requested me that pay it through credit card. After that ...One of my friend has paid (thru credit card)for air ticket. thus makemytrip has extra of my money. That is incident of 20th september 2010.ur customer caller Mr. Shailesh [protected]@delhi, told me that it'll take 3 to 7 days to refund. After that he is saying it'll take 10 days.He is saying now, he has forwarded my mail to his seniors but they didn't revert...now he is asking to call on their toll free number. are sites like makemytrip for our comfort or we sud spend all over day on complaining on their toll free number. Today is 13th october and I haven't received my money back. I dont know whetehr they people are joking Or befooling customer.. it is simple mental harressment.MY BOOKING ID: INW1009B00253..I dont know how would be my trip but it is sure that I wont recommend makemytrip to anyone.

Just now I got a reply from one of my friend who is a police officer to approach the Cyber Cell. Kerala Cyber cell is excellent and they will take action. India Cyber Laws can deal with these type of online frauds. Anybody willing to join for a mass petition can contact me and we will take it further.

The CEO of makemytrip.com is Deep Kalra and he is a MBA degree holder. But unfortunately his organization lacks proper systems and lack of professionalism.

Makemytrip.com — NOT GETTING THE REFUND

I had cancelled a PNR for my ticket through the airline from Mumbai to Calicut on 01-Aug-2011. The airline said it will take 10 days to get the refund. After 10 days when i called the Airline people they said the amount has been credited to the travel agent i.e Make Mytrip. After i called 4 times i was able to confirm the cancellation from Makemytrip on 12th August. They said 3 working days for the credit to my account. Today 18.08.2011 I have received half of the amount which was shown by Makemytrip in their site. Today I called makemytrip.com they said some more days required for creditting the amount. Kindly look into the matter. I am attaching the refund shown by the airline and makemytrip.com.
This is the 2nd time, i have had problem with the ticket cancellation with makemytrip. After last time i had almost stopped using makemytrip.

Canceled 2 tickets and the total refund should have been Rs. 3566 wherein they made a calculation mistake (i have a feeling that it is intentional, as same thing happened last time) and returned Rs 988. I spoke to almost 4 of their customer care executive at several occasions. All of them accepted the fault and promised to rectify withing 48 hours. One of them did try to negate my claim citing some weird reason and after i insisted disconnected without resolving .

Nothing happened.

Then i made a call to their nearest office, the lady assistant manager again made a similar promise and nothing happened.

The thing is if its Makemytrip's fault why should i loose money calling their guys and wasting my precious time. I am formally writing a complain and would like to elevate the case to concern departments and agencies .

I have observed many complaints like this on many of the forums.

Air tickets — deduction of amount

i had booked 3 return tickets for srinagar to delhi for the date 5th feb and return on 12th feb 2012,where the transaction was done twice for the amount of rupees 17115,total amount of 34230.the transaction numbers are S34576587 and S34577646.i dont want the confirmation now,i want the complete refund.please help!
I have made 1 AIRINDIA BOOKING ticket from makemytrip.com on 26-Feb-2012.
AIR INDIA itself cancelled the ticket on 13-MAR-2012. Due to rubbish schedule of air India, instead of taking a risk , I have cancelled my both to and fro tickets through mail.
A commitment was made that the money will be refunded within 10days. Till now no amount has been refunded to my Credit Card. I called them on daily basis to verify whats the issue is. AIR INDIA did not refund the same.
After cancelling the ticket, the money should have refunded. A customer cant call them again and again and raise the complaints. I think , people should not make use of makemytrip and AIR INDIA EXPRESS as both companies are providing a complete rubbish service to the customers. These both companies don't have have answer that who is going to pay late fee of credit card bill (AED 159.00 i.e. 2194.00 INR). What the hell is..?
