[Resolved]  Reader's Digest — READERS DIGEST SWEEPSTAKES

Yes, I totally agree with my fellow citizens/customers of readers digest. It is nothing but hoodwinking the readers with a carrot called sweepstakes. I have been participating since 2008 in sweepstakes till January 2012. To date i have never seen any results of the draw in any of the news papers. Even now before writing this also i had called up the customer service center and enquired about the draw and results, i was told that the draw was held on 24th January and i can refer to website for the results. As i opened the website i was shocked to find so many complaints but not the results/ This is an act of customer deceit by the RD. The owners and directors should be prosecuted by law. I hope the police in Mumbai will recognise so many complaints treating them as sue moto and book them under criminal law. Because RD has been cheeting thousands of customers who are trusting this company. It has disheartened and put us in shame. -Raghu Kumar M.S, Bangalore.

I submitted my reply to be entered into the "million dollar" sweepstakes on Mar. 27,2012, it was returned by P.O. marked "box closed - unable to forward'. PLEASE VERIFY CORRECTNESS OF MAILING ADDRESS.

WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM READER'S DIGEST THAT WE ARE THE WINNERS BUT WE DIDN'T GET ANY PRIZE AMOUNT. PAPERS ARE COMMING ONCE IN 15 DAYS & AGAIN WE ARE SENDING THROUGH COURIER ARE THEY CHEATING US PLEASE HELP US IN THIS
KINDLY LOOK INTO THIS MATTER & TAKE NECESSARY ACTION

I am not comfortable with the idea that the RD Sweepstakes are what they claim to be. For example many of the books I have purchased are rehashes of earlier publications such as - 2011Cleaning secrets, Extraordinary uses of ordinary things & Forbidden Advice. I continue to receive select books even when I had instructed that I do not wish to receive any more of the series ; the CD cases are of poor quality and the CDs slip out eg the album Music for Serene Moments has to be secured by rubber fasteners. Posting these items back for RD Scrutiny at my own cost is just not worth the effort. A complaint I made on this was not even acknowledged as was my letter reporting a possible case of 'pishing'. I receive promos and letters from RD offices in Delhi & Mumbai and can't figure out whether the two offices are independent units.
The sales promotion gambit of sticking on labels and uncovering numbers by scraping off films covering them, to make the promo more enjoyable wears thin after some time as do the friendly covering letters received from RD officials.
If you wish to retain your clients, I suggest that that the periodicity of sweepstakes should be spaced out over shorter periods.

There is a lot of confusion in this Sweepstakes Scheme. Customers are addressed as Valued Customer, But the IN Friends do not care for the customers. I have doubt that they do not read the e mails carefully and do not take the action desired. This causes a lot of inconviniace to the customers.The number of complaints registered here are the proof of what I am mentioning. This is not expected from the RD related schemes.
I do not see any reply by the concerned officer on this page.
E mails sent to IN Friends are getting bounced.

I received the book HOW TO WRITE AND SPEAK BETTER and this has been sent by VPP. I paid the VPP amount and cleared the parcel. Inside the parcel I found a letter from K..Ozarde, of the Catalolgue division. There was a letter also from Mr J Mathew, Director, Sweepetakes committee. He said under PS: quote: you could be a winner of Rs. 3, 00, 000 cash soon. Return your validated transfer of prize funds certificate today to secure entry into the quick cash draw closing on 30th June. unquote. This letter was kept in the parcel. vpp. which was delivered to me only today afternoon, i.e. 12th July 2012. If this is the case, do you think that my entry has gone timebard.

I have been mentioned that my name is R.S.Kuppusamy and not R.S. Kuppuswamy. It seems correction in the name is yet to be made. Kindly do the needful.

The letters your officers write is beautiful and soul searching. You are also mentioned that in the event of my winning whether the money should be sent by cheque or etransfer. In the case of etransfer, you should have my bank account no. which I think I have not been asked to provide.
