[Resolved]  SCB CREDIT CARD — Card Billing issue

Hi,

I am Prabakaran. I applied and received a credit card from standard chartered bank in the year 2005 when I was at chandigarh. I never used that credit card. Since last week I am getting calls saying that my payment due is 60, 000 and a case has been filed against me.The card is fresh and new, and its securely available with me inside the lockers. Nobody can use the card. I haven't even activated the online transfer for the same.

When I checked with the customer care, their response is, billed amount till date is 37000/-. The person who I contacted was bargaining to make a settlement. Insisting me to pay a sum of 6000 to get close this issue. But he told that if I didnt make a payment of 37000, then they wont clear my name from CIBIL.

I asked them the following questions.
1) What is the purchase made on the card?
2) Who is the vendor the amount has been paid?
3) What is the proof for the purchase made? If I would have swiped the card, I need the bill in which I have signed. If I would subscribed for auto-debit, I need the proof document in which I signed for the authority. As per the RBI rules, the bank has to provide the evidences on request by the customer.
4) Though I changed my present address from chandigarh to bangalore, my permanent address remains unchanged. They are having my e-mail id, my permenant address/phone no. They could talk to me after 3 years in my landline, why not the same has been done before.

They are not ready to give me those information. They claim that the transaction details has been removed from their database. I contacted the customer care, I have even dropped mails to the customer service. But no response. Without purchasing how can we make the payment.

I can provide more details through phone or mail.

Kindly help me in resolving this issue.

Thanks,
Prabakaran.
