Sify — Pathetic customer service

This is the gist of my complaint, which I have sent to Sify Customercare as well. lets see how they respond:-
Hi,
This is with reference to the sify broadband account which I hold with the user id adarsh_reecha. I would like to close this account as it is of no use to me with the broadband connection not working invariably for 5 days a month every month for past 4 month. The height of patience has been reached this time though, with my complaint registered in 29th July (a week ago) with reference number 7282494 being not serviced to as yet.

I have spent more than Rs 250/- and 2-3 hours of cumulative time in over 50 calls that I must have made to your customer service (which incidentally should get the most pathetic customer service in the world award) numbers both in Delhi and Chennai. Invariably the tape recorders that you call the customer service associates play back the recorded message of " Yes Sir, we understand how you must be feeling (I wish sub-human intelligent people could understand), and your complaint would be attended to in a minimum of 4 hours and a maximum of 12 hours."

Upon providing them with the fact that I have heard the same commentary umpteen number of times, the buffoons have the guts to provide an assurance that in you'd receive a call from our technical team ( does there exist such a team in Sify?) within a day (which hasn't happened as yet).

Further on asking for passing the call over to their supervisor ( a floor manager- I hope its not a sweeper), I am invariably told that he is taking another call ( wonder how many disgruntled customer calls they receive every day). In fact two CSA had the audacity to confirm that I'd receive a call from his managers named Prabhu (in Chennai) and another one whose mobile no. is [protected] in an hour's time. I am wondering whether these guys inhabit Earth (as their clocks seem to run too slow, since I haven't received these calls in 4 days).

Upon asking for the existence of an escalation mechanism, I am told there is none! ( now that was not a surprise, given its Satyam!!)

So given this wonderful experience that I have had over the last few days, I have decided to switch out of this connection. Given the pain afflicted on me, I'd rather like to publish my experiences with the world, and in fact I have managed to convince my fellow residents in the building to do the same.

Could you please confirm to me when could I receive the refund of my money, or do need to take a legal recourse for the same.

I talked to Customer Care Executive
(i) Mr. Vishwanathan on 11.02.2009 who had been very rude and doesn'nt know how to behave and
(ii) cuts the call all the time repeatedly without any satisfactory reply for my order.
(iii) Though he was being spoken with in English, he deliberately asked me that he doesn't know Hindi (although he was many a times was speaking in Hindi and was not ready to listen to the other side). He did so as he was not ready to listen to me and cut the call. Whereas the option I opted was Hindi. Why option of Eng / Hindi is being provided ?
(iv) I was told to send an e-mail to track my order. It was already sent which is still awaited.
(v) I placed an order vide number s[protected]m for Rs. 14337/= and payment type 3D Secure Payment Gateway HDFC Authorised Code 000238 Status from Bank - Success.
(vi) It was told that the payment was received on 10th of Feb, 2009. When the order was booked on 6th Feb. it was confirmed from the toll free number and I was assured that the item will be received within 5-7 working days and latest by 13th.
If such an irresponsible reply as is received from Mr. Vishwanathan, and no tracking method is available at your end, we would never like to book any items which i booked from your site for the first time. Your are running business getting orders from we customers only. If we are abused by u people, I regret to say that no further orders will be made through your site. Further, ur site will never be recommended from we people.
Further Mr. Dilip had a talk with me who assured me to tell the status latest by tomorrow.
In case the order cannot be executed latest by 13th, the same may please be cancelled and the money may kindly be refunded to me. An urgent reply is solicited. as the product is needed for a function. else it could have been purchased from the open market / showroom may be at higher price.

With my experience of Sify Patna, I strongly agree with Adarsh...

Guys, please do never have a Sify connection if you want to have peace of mind! The most useless of all the services that will pluck all your hairs from your head! I have to finally call off from Sify, too.

There is no customer care, no service, and ...the technical team? Nothing of that sort exists...
