[Resolved]  Sony — Sony 40" LCD TV NX 500

In March 2010 I purchased a Sony 40" LCD TV for almost Rs 65K. This was within few days of its launch. In less than six months it started showing bad colors. It took Sony India more than 10 days to diagnose the problem and now they say that they will not replace but repair it. Even though the warranty terms are valid for repair but having bought the most expensive television set one does not buy these troubles. It is also a head racking experience to deal with a different person all the time within their organization, Why can't they give a new replacement and take back the old TV so that I have a hassle free experience of owning and enjoying it. I suppose it is no use spending a lot of money on this brand since once in for service you will also buy hard attitude, trouble and expensive spare parts in after warranty period (as I have read elsewhere on the net)

s 500 i — motherboard failure

Dear Sirs/Madam,

I am a Sri Lankan I bought this mobile before 1year ago. after 6 months, suddenly it got stucked and repair guid said mother board have to be changed. one of my friend fetched this from dhoha and I am unable to claim warranty.

Would you please state what are the remedies available for this matter? Or any place or way to buy a mother board. It was cost me Rs.20,000. and I am suffer.

I totaly agree SONY in India is live only cause of its brand image it actaully had mustered once other wise the whole orgainsation structure here is to make fool of people.

I am a similar sufferer.

From being a strong supporter of this brand have turned into advising people around to never opt for it any more, their after sale services are pathetic.
Had bought a LCD 32" in 2007 in the very first year of warranty it had to be sent to the service center at mathura road for problem and I got back the set after more then 1 week.

Now last month again it has got similar problem for which I had logged in the complaint & the engineer was sent across at my Dwarka address, post checking he said he would get back with the estimate for repair.

I got a call from him after few days late in the evening at 2000hrs & he sounded as if he was drunk and asked for 12, 000 Rs for repair claiming that the part has to brought in from Singapore. Towards which I requested to please send the LCD to service center and check if actually the problen stated by is there or not & also nothing else is wrong as it dose not make sense to spend 12, 000 Rs and again spend more over some other problem later if it exists. Rather its better I buy a new one instead.

To which I was conveyed he'll get the LCD picked and would send across to service center for valid check up.

But nothing happened for next one week, I again logged a complaint on 4th Aug'10 against complaint number 5731017 was conveyed the LCD would be picked in 24hrs again nothing happens, after that I have been continously calling the call center talking from one person to another without any person coming over or any call being over till date as on 27th Aug'10.

Sony service have gone for toss for sure, I do not think I can ever recommend any one else to buy this product now though have been a stong supporter of this brand all my life.

SONY/ LED TV — POOR SOUND QUALITY

I purchased a lcd tv (SONY EX 300) last 5 mounth back but i am not satisfied with it's sound quality. it's sound is distorted. so kindly help me out.

LCD 40 inch TV — Product not repaired and returned even after 15 days

My LCD was taken for repair on 26th of August for the complaint of there being a red line on the screen going vertically down. It has been 15 days now it has still not being repaired. They say they do not have the part available with them. Less than one year old LCD firstly develop a problem like this and then Sony doesnot have the required part. Kindly look into this and facilitate a necessary action.The serial no. of complaint is 1200919. Customer name is Col.R. Bali, address 83, Pratap chowk, Delhi Cantt.
I am a Sony loyalist whose recent experience has made myself to lose confidence in the brand ‘SONY’ and its product. I am having lot of Sony products with me LCD TV's, LED TV, VAIO LAPTOP, PS3, HOME THEATER SYSTEMS, DVD PLAYERS, DSLR CAMERA, DIGITAL CAMERA, High Defination HDD HANDYCAM, CAR DVD PLAYERS and many more. At last I come to the conclusion that Sony in India providing substandard products. Even the MD of Sony India did not listen to the custmer. It is much better to buy a cheeper product rather than Sony bcz one can buy two systems in a price of one.

Sony Customer Care is pathetic. Customer Care Executive says, someone from Sony will call back, no body calls back. I wrote an email saying I'll file a case in Consumer Court, nobody cared to reply. When I ask Customer Care to transfer the call to a Manager, they say the Manager is not available. The franchisee service center "Shri Amba Services Pvt Ltd" looking into the complaint does not wants to give an estimated time when the TV will be returned. Its been almost a month now since I had registered a complaint. Even no standby TV has been provided.

Sony / car stereo — product not repaired from long time

Sir, my car stereo of sony was not working so i gave them to sony service centre in kanpur, but the product is not repaired yet, when i call they say you will get in a week but three months are passed and i still dont have it. everyone is making me wander.

Yes, I am from bangalore. I recently brought a new sony LED television. The problem I am facing is in its picture quality. I thought, as I am paying a premiem price. I will get better quality amoung all other company. But, because of poor quality, sony gradually loosing its market.

One of my friend brought samsung LED television recently, his picture and sound quality is much better. And more feature it is having.

I think, now, it is time for sony, to analyze that it is not just SONY brand will hold them in the market. To servive in market either the have to increase there quality or cut down the prices. I asked the dealer to change the set, but they are very arogant. I have written complaint to company but no response as well from them.

My experience is very horrible with SONY. SONY is not a brand any more. I ask people to not to buy SONY product any more, atleast SONY TELEVISION.

Thank you Guys for your support and i was planning to buy a LCD TV from Sony after reading all the survey given by you about Sony.I am not interested in purchasing Sony products from now on.I am planning to go for a Samsung LCD instead of Sony.And Sony is also cheating the people by using EDGE LED in LCD.Which cost more and useless.So i agree with you guys and not interested to buy the Sony products.

I’m Anand Misra. On 24 April 2010 I bought SONY BRAVIA LCD EX500 from Jumbo electronics, Noida. But now a day’s I’m facing some problems with my LCD. In Jan11 LCD power light has been changed. Now some “tric- tric” types of sound is coming in my LCD and sometimes when we change the channel “Tic” sound comes. I complained regarding this problem to customer care. They send their engineer. But as above I mentioned that the sound not comes frequently. So when engineer visited outhouse that sound doesn’t occurs at that time. So the problem is as it is.
On Friday I had a call from your executive Mr. Sarbjeet. And he asked some questions about the technical problem of my LCD. After asking about the problem he said he would call back to me after an hour. But till now I didn’t have any call from his side. On Monday when I call again to customer care they said they connect me with Mr. Sarbjeet on the same day. But until now, still I’m waiting for his call. So, today again I call in customer care and the feedback was very awful from their side and I’m not satisfied with your responses till the date. Now tell me what is my fault? I think this is the biggest fault of mine to by SONY LCD, Isn’t it?
I had bought this LCD just b’coz of its brand name and if such reputed brand giving me this type of problem then to whom I can trust? My LCD has been opened while in warranty period, which was very unpleasant experience for me. Now I just don’t want to open it again. I just want to replace my LCD with new one as soon as possible or I want my money back, which is the last option you left for me.

I was a brand SONY loyalist & that made me buy a brand new SONY BRAVIA LCD - KLV40NX500 on 29 Jan 2011 for a whopping Rs 60, 000 in New Delhi.

Having grown up in a generation where TVs worked flawlessly for 10-15 yrs, I was just SHOCKED to see the LCD fail in just a matter of 4 months. Yes.. a brand new Sony LCD started to have numerous horizontal and vertical lines with distorted display. The problem became worse & right now the display is totally blurred.

I made a complaint ( No[protected] on 7th July 2011 & the service centre technician visited me today. He took pictures & told me it is most probably the LCD panel issue, and the panel will need to be replaced once Sony India approves of it.

Now my anger and frustation is that how come a brand new LCD that too from the so called premium brand like SONY fail in just 5 months ??? Dont they do any quality checks or what ?

I dont know which way to go next as even though the product is still under warranty, I really dont want to get the LCD repaired.. common its my hard earned moneywhich I had paid to have a trouble free entertainment. And what is the guarantee that the new LCD panel will not fail ?

Sony should replace my LCD with a new one. Can anyone share me Sony's contact numbers or email ids where I can follow this case up. ( But honestly, after reading all the above comments, I have lost faith with them & have prepared myself for the tough road ahead.)

Just wanted to update on my complaint stated above for the benefit of future customers..

The summary of the whole story is :

After inspecting the LCD, I got a call from Sony India & he told me that the LCD needs to be taken to a service centre & its a panel issue. I asked the person as t why the LCD failed & he calmly said that its an electronic thing & we cannot pin point the exact reason - voltage spikes or something. I was adamant to get the LCD replaced, but the guy simply refused to do that. I found him quite rude at this stage. I kept on pressing him but he didnt budge at all. After this i was finally fed up & I agreed o get my panel replaced. But then came another shocker.. there will not be any new warranty on the new part installed. !! I was just surprised. I said its quite obvious that any new part should have an extended warranty of atleast one year. To this Sony technician replied, that the warranty will not be extended it will remain the same .. ie one year from the date of purchase of the LCD.

I totally lost my cool after this. I told him its unethical on part of Sony to do this. But that guy became rude & had a "total not interested attitude". His replies were full of even more sarcasm. "You have used the LCD for 4 months ", "its not a company policy to extend warranty" .."its a n electronic part .. any electronic part can fail ", "i will not give you any numbers or email ids" etc etc. I simply asked him to give me his boss's number or email id, to which he simply refused. Finally I kept the phone down saying .." i dont want to get the LCD repaired".

That evening was really tense one for me. In front of my eyes were my hard earned money gone down the drain ... and i just cudnt believe that Sony India could be so ignorant to a customer. I had so high regards for Sony and its products !! Then i just googled the email id of Sony MD & sent a mail describing all that had happened.

The next day, another person from Sony called me up. He was very polite and courteous. The next 3 days just saw a different level of customer service experience. They extended the warranty & took the LCD & and returned back in flat 2 days time. During this, they kept me informed on the progress. and kept calling me almost twice a day. I was impressed. My faith was regained. Also eventually, it was found at the service center that the panel was perfectly okay & it was a motherboard that had gone faulty. They changed it & rite now the LCD is back with me & is working perfectly fine.

I have also received a letter from Sony India on the extended warranty of the faulty part.

Right now I am happy, but i just pray that Sony India gives this level of customer service to every customer . They should not have been so unrealistic & ignorant to a customer's shock & despair. Nevertheless, I am happy to see things mended by Sony. I like SONY products & hope to remain like that.

I agree with your experience because I m also facing the same problem with the so called Brand.

I bought Sony LCD tv Sr. no.2377469 model 40NX500 from sony center rohini on 02/02/2011 in Rs 57900.Now after 15 months only there are colour patches in the screen.What is brand means? Why I purchase sony & spend more? However I made a complaint (no. 9925069) on 21/04/2012. 4 days go but no engineer visit us.Is it the after sale service of SONY brand.I think it is an experience which is known to peoples who think to buy LCD in future.

Can you please give me the SONY MD number, I purchased SONY 32BX350 this month, but picture quality is very bad. I don't know why they are not tested before sending item to customer. It is very worst experience with SONY.

We purchased Sony Brevia 46 inch led TV and in few months defect in penal was observed. The service centre people came about 12 days back and took the TV for replacement of the penal. The company refused to replace the TV even if the penal itself is the main part of TV (what else the led TV has except for the frame) . The service centre and customer care people of Sony are so discourteous that they do not even respond to my calls and even do not want to inform as to when i will get back my TV. Its really shameful for a Japanese Co who professes high degree of customer care.
For the knowledge of all I wish to inform a similar story of my wows with Sony products. A sound system purchased from them did not work despite visiting their service centre several times during the entire warranty period and afterwards they refused to repair free of charges as the warranty period was over. I had to approach to Hon'ble. Consumer court and then only the Sony people replaced my defective set with a brand new one even after expiry of warranty period.

I am a loyal customer of Sony .I purchase a 32" LCD TV in June 2009 from a Chennai dealer.The LCD panel was defective in February, 2011 and was replaced. In April 2013, i complained of double images and snowy pictures.The Sony Technician has said the display panel and an IC have to be changed- the estimated cost Rs12000/-Virtually all the major components have failed in about 3 1/2 years.I have been sold either a defective set or even a reconditioned one.The Sony response appallingly poor.I feel cheated and have lost faith in Sony Products and service.
