Rental House — asking for unnecessary rent

Hello we were residing in a society, where owner first told us that working professionals and bachleors are allowed in the society and after 5 days they told us that society is not allowing us as they are telling we already told owner that they cant keep bach. Or working professionals as tenants. So we were told to vacant the flat in 15-20 days only and now they are asking us for the rent otherwise they threatned us to beat us and launch a police complaint against us. Is this fair.?? First they told us society agreed to keep bachleors and aftr few days they are asking us to move out and again asking for rent.??
