My name put on CIBIL in spite of taking whatever was due

In the year 2006 i had cleared all the dues of standard chartered bank. To my surprise when today i applied for a Auto loan, told by banker that since payment was written off by Standard chartered bank in 2006 your name is appearing in CIBIL & hence your repaying capability is doubtful, so Auto loan cannot be sanctioned.
Now how get out of this, i don't know....
