This is to let you know that I placed an order for household items with Amazon under Amazon Fresh on which was delivered on 30th August. I had ordered for around 14 items and it was delivered on 30th August 2022. When I opened the carton, I found that one of the package (Haldirams Panchratna Mix – 150g) was torn and the content was spilled inside the carton itself.
Regarding this, I had called the customer care and they asked me to send a picture of the same to verify what I said was true or not. After validating they confirmed that the amount for that item which is Haldirams Panchratna mix, would be credited to my Amazon wallet itself. When I checked how much amount would be credited to my amazon wallet I found that Rs. 97/- would be credited for it. But to my surprise when I checked the torn packet I found that MRP of the item itself is Rs. 60/-, which means Amazon app has displayed and charged Rs. 37/- more from me than the MRP for that particular item.
Again, I had to call the customer service and when I enquired with them, why Amazon Application and the website is displaying, comparatively higher prize, they were not serious about it and said they will take the feedback. I mean what’s the point in taking the feedback, it’s a serious blunder what they have done.
1. They’ve charged Rs. 37/- more from me without my knowledge which is illegal.
2. If they have charged me alone Rs. 37/- extra, let’s say from 10 customers they would have charged Rs. 370/-, from 100 customers – 3700/-, from 1000 customers Rs. 37000/-, from 10000 customer they would have charged Rs. 3, 70, 000/-
3. Being a worldwide vendor there might be so many customers who would have ordered the same item from different cities and states all over the country.
4. What if they are doing the same practice (charging customers more than the MRP of the original product) for other items like this?
5. In one item, from me itself if they can collect Rs. 37 extra by cheating me, what they could be doing with so many customers and more number of items.
They were not serious about it at all. Their tone doesn’t reflect the same. I also had a word with the supervisor called Alan (not sure whether this is his real name), and he says that am not letting him to complete what he was about to say which is not the case. I was really frustrated to the core that inspite of doing this blunder they think its just a displaying error and just because I have highlighted this, he said he will credit the Rs. 37/- which was charged from my end. He was also rude over the phone and threatened he would go ahead and disconnect the call as if I had used profanity over the phone. He was also not serious about what I was trying to highlight and when I told him that I would go ahead and complaint to the consumer forum, he was so cool about it and mentioned, that its my personal choice and I can do whatever I want. He was not ready to take the ownership of the issue and accept the mistake which was happened. Even after the call also, the same item is displayed with a higher price than the original MRP. I just want to highlight this to the right forum so that these things gets highlighted and stopped with immediate effect, because so many literates and illiterates are used to buying items through online platform like Amazon. Please take the necessary action against them and make sure whatever items they sell through their platform is quoted with a proper prize and compensate the all the customers whoever had paid more amount unwillingly.
