I am a senior citizen. I opened a SCSS account meant for senior citizens with Bank of Baroda on 05-Oct-2021. Passbook was not given. Complained to Bank of baroda which said "pass book facility is not available for the scheme.
View SCSS facility is not available in net banking at present. Functionality is under development and will be available to customers soon." Being not satisfied with reply I complained to Banking Ombudsman of RBI after waiting for 5 months during March 2022. RBI ack no N[protected]/2021-22 dated 19 Mar 2022. RBI later on 01-Apr-2022 replied " Bank informed that SCSS is a govt backed scheme; it was not linked to INB and presently it is under development. Bank has expressed its regret for the inconvenience and hence no service deficiency is observed." and washed off its hands.
Now it is more than a year since I opened the account and the Bank is still developing the functionality while other Banks like SBI are providing the facility in net banking. Being a senior citizen I am worried whenever I log into net banking and see the flash 'no deposit account is linked to this id'.
Bank of Baroda is to be pulled up for not providing a simple solution and also RBI for simply repeating the words of BOB without going into the merits of the complaint. Thank you, Ganga Balakrishnan Was this information helpful? |
