Bookleaf Publishing India — Unprofessional Publisher cheated me. I want my money back

After the excitement and gratitude of seeing my lifelong dream of being a published author come true, I experienced a very disappointing experience with BookLeaf Publishing.

Initially, I was thrilled when BookLeaf Publishing gave me the chance to publish my book, Musings of the Heart: A Collection of Random Thoughts Woven into Poetic Pearls. But things quickly went wrong when my book went live on Amazon. Although the title, description, and author bio were correctly listed, the paperback page showed the wrong cover image—one from a completely different book. People searching for Musings of the Heart by Shilpa Sahdev were instead led to Musings of the Heart by Rishabh Menon. I immediately contacted BookLeaf Publishing through their only communication channel, WhatsApp (that is managed by someone named Rama Krishna), and was assured that the issue would be resolved soon.

On reaching out to Amazon India customer support number, I was informed that only the publisher could make the necessary changes as they had the access and it is not a very difficult task for them, in fact it can be done in minutes. However, BookLeaf Publishing kept shifting responsibility and failed to act for over last two weeks.

To make matters worse, when I ordered an author copy, I received the wrong book entirely. Despite requesting a return, I was only offered a replacement, which was still incorrect due to the faulty Amazon listing. I asked for direct contact with someone at BookLeaf Publishing, but after two promises of a callback, I’m still waiting. I even tried connecting with Shivangi Verma over LinkedIn so that I can convey my woes directly to her, but my connection request is still pending.

This lack of professionalism has been deeply frustrating and mentally exhausting. The excitement I once felt about publishing my first book has been overshadowed by delays, poor communication, and unfulfilled promises. I shared a post on LinkedIn to caution aspiring authors about the challenges of working with publishers like BookLeaf Publishing. A reliable publisher is crucial for an author’s success, and unfortunately, they have left me disillusioned.

Through the LinkedIn medium, I also tried to inform and request Musavir Khurshid and Shivangi Verma to be more professional in dealing with such matters and also requested them to ask their publishing team to be more empathetic and action oriented and get this sorted at the earliest.

I humbly requested the whole team to take this case on top priority, however I never received any reply or assurance or action from them.

I want the listing to be updated with correct details and cover of my book on the Amazon paperback page ASAP and want the correct author copy for myself or else my money (Rs. 3, 000 + GST) to be refunded in my bank account.

Please help me get a concrete resolution to my problem. The website of the publisher is listed here: https://www.bookleafpub.in/ and they have my book listed as an ebook on their ebookstore too: https://ebooks.bookleafpub.com/product-page/musings-of-the-heart-a-collection-of...
