Individual — Air pollution from burning garbage in a dump yard

In south Chennai a huge dump yard has been made up on a protected marsh land called Pallikaranai Marsh land. It's a ecological habitat that is home for lots of migratory birds and protects the biosphere in the coastal area. This marsh land has been declared to be protected by the Supreme court judgment and State government needs to protect the marsh land by fencing it and monitoring it. But the dump yard made up by the chennai corporation is expanding it constantly into the marsh land area indiscriminately and frequently burn the garbage also. I have attached a pic here as well that shows thick white smoke billowing out of the marsh land dump yard that creates heavy air pollution in and around the OMR area that houses lots of Office complexes and residential areas. It causes grave effects and respiratory problems to people living in that vicinity and should be prevented. Dump yard should be closed permanently and scientific solid waste management process should be set up in some other place. It will then protect the marsh land ecology and people living around.

I am a resident of Mallikarjuna Nagar, Sagar Ring Road, L.B.Nagar. There are some timber depots opposite to the bus stop of sagar ring road on the state road of Nagarjuna sagar. They are emitting thick smoke causing air pollution in the colony. They are creating lot of sound pollution of wood cutting in the day time.
We request you to take action on these timber depots and save us from health hazards ASAP.

In our locality, there is a factory, where silaai machine paint, related equipments are manufactured. While manufacturing those products, the factory owner shows a callous attitude in controlling the pollution. On the other hand, those machines also emit smokes and dust particles in the air, which is very unhealthy. our neighbor children also facing health problems.

I stay at Poonam Nagar, Andheri(E), Mahakali Caaves Road, Andheri(E) since last 13 years and from last 1 year we people are facing the problem of dust polloution by a private person, who crush stone and mix the same with cement and that too in night only and also few Marble cutting unit are around this resident colony which cut the marble and due to that dust and noise being pollouted in the air.

Which are not being taken care off and the dust and nosie are released directly in the environment all the way through the open.

Many o[censored]s approached to the company and police dept concerned of our area at MIDC, Andheri(E) but of no use.
Firstly, to set up the company in this residental area should not have been allowed at all. How electicity department have permited them the connection for industrial use in a residential area.
Secondly, due to dust senior citizens of our area getting stroke of Asthma and children gets Bronkities.
So the health effects are very serious in nature.

So we people think that, the company should be closed / shifted as early as possible.

In my colony there are some factories of plastic.These factories are pollute the environment.Please take hard action about these factories.And i am astudent of bba 1st year.

Since from 1997, we are thinking that these plastic industry will move from residential area(NANGLOI)several action taken by us, but no action has been taken on these polluted industry as they are growing and spreading by the government on these industry.As they spreading air pollution, noise pollution etc, that are highly affecting this area(NANGLOI), as plastic manufacturer should not be allowed to stay within residential area as per the DELHI MASTER PLAN, but no one is hearing government, is this called a democratic country which has dream to became Delhi as Pollution free city upto 2021.So, please take action against these plastic industry within residential area, I will be highly obliged to the goverment for that.

We are infect by pollution for Water, Air, Soil Pollution. Hindustan Zinc Limited two time purchase our land for purpose of Green belt develop but Hindustan Zinc Limited not develop green belt this land used to waste material, slag yard, ash yard & acid water unloading purpose use. Hindustan Zinc Limited in 4 years ago 40% land in tree area. After some time Hindustan Zinc Limited required land for purpose of Power plant & Hydro Plant develop in plant area. Hindustan Zinc Limited cutting by 30% to 35% tree in plant area for river side & man gate side. Present time Hindustan Zinc Limited plant area in 5% to 10% tree only. Hindustan Zinc Limited unloading slag, acid water in slag yard. This acid water underground land through come in our well. We are can not use this water for drinking & our agriculture land purpose. Our land is infected by Air pollution & acid water pollution. We are unable to use this water.

Hindustan Zinc Limited not develop by Green belt till today. Hindustan Zinc Limited demand land for Green belt previsouly two time not develop green belt.

Air Pollution Complaint
I stay at Barabanki. From last 15 years we people are facing coal dust problem from last 10 years.
The problem is Coal Siding of Barabanki Railway Jn Station. Earlier there were no dwelling near railway siding. Last 15 yrs al ot of New colonies have been developed around the siding. Around the siding District Jail & its residential campus, Abhay Nagar, Kailashpuri, Om nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Greedganj, Huddiganj, Banki, Sugar Mill named colonies are situated. Approx. 5000 people are are directly affected from coal dust. Coal dust is creating serious damage to affected peoples health. At unauthorised coal racks are also unloaded in the gudance of Coal maphiyas. District administration, Railway deptt, jail Administration all are helping to coal maphiyas. Affected peoples have made many agitations like rail track jamm but no result appeared.
We people need help from you. Can you please suggest us, to whom we should approach for the same or which further actions to be taken?

Please be informed that we lives in 148 dhandia house haldiyon ka Rasta Johari bazar Jaipur
And in this very big building of three chowk there are two rooms in the ground floor of this building inside third chowk There are two people named Sunil And Shrikant respectively who had rented the building s rooms they do unauthorized trading of Gold and silver they melt gold silver and they use Manufacture, Store Hazardous Chemical for the above said purpose we had asked them not to do these illegal activities but they never understand and it is very difficult for us to reside in these situation.
There unauthorized melting ,using and burning the unauthorized chemical causes lots of smoke and dust and the gas which comes out in result is very hazardous to human being for the health point of view and its very very difficult to breath in this situation and hence causing environmental pollution
We cannot breathe also properly and they are causing hazardous pollution in the building which results in diseases related to respiratory trouble. Apart from this the smoke which comes out in result is providing great harm to building and if you measure the pollution level at that point you will know by ourselves that how much pollution is there and is that point a right place to live.


Therefore on behalf of all the residents of building no 148 Dhandhia Building we request you to come inspect and make conclusions that whether this kinds of pollution is harmful or not and if you found our complaint is right and very poisonous gas comes out because of that than you are requested to please stop these activities of burning BHATTI

Hi Sirs,

I wanted to post a coplaint against the factories which are being built inside our village at Merha of Dhanbad district in the Jharkhand state.

The amount of pollution created by the factories are immense and they are very dangerous and hazardous to healt.
These are irone ore factories and they generate huge tonnes of dust and smoke daily.

There were already around 50 factories in the villages and now these are also comming up with no limitation of pollution emmision limits to them.One of them being built exactly in the center of the village.The chimneys for the emmisions are not of adeqate height.And in the night they emmit all the dangerous gases which is being breated by the innocent villagers.

As per the Govt. rule they are not supposed to build a factory in an around a residential area, but to your surprise you will find that there are more than 50 factories in the same village.

People are unable to breath properly.They are poor people who dont know where to go and whom to coplain to.
Please help the villagers.

I stay in Sowcarpet Chennai. In our neighbor there are many merchants who do some kind of jewelery. Earlier there were few merchants who were doing this business but the number of merchants has grown to nearly 10 to 15. This merchant burn jewelry using some acid and that leads to acid smoke in access amount. Most of these merchant work on there terrace and release the smoke in open air that leads to breathing problem many times. I have complaint but this has been going on for daily and its hard to fight every day.

These merchants are unregistered and don't have any license or document to do this kind of word. This kind of work should not be done in any residential area. As per human rights no one are allowed to produce acid or injurious smoke which pollute air and are harmful for humans.

Please help us to survive in this area. There are other houses too who wants to complaint but we are unaware of proper procedure. Can you please suggest us, to whom we should approach for the same or which further actions to be taken?

I stay in shantivan, paldi area, ahmedabad, gujarat.The garbage collectors in my locality do not carry off the garbage in the hand cart provided to them by government but instead they burn it in there itself creating small piles of garbage at few distances.This activity is done on daily basis which not only causes smoke but thus creates heavy pollution.It also affects on my health and every citizen's health badly.We have also talked to garbage collector about it that we have health problem so don't burn here but they argue & give some weird reasons and continues it.And earlier also I have complaint once but still no effective result can be seen.Kindly do the needful to let us all survive here & also to save our environment by reducing this smoke as we all know the global warming will create problem.If burning of garbage is stopped then ateast to some extent we play our part of responsible citizen.I also have some pictures if at all needed of the smoke caused due to burning of garbage.Hope yopu will take action on this act immediately.

Residential Complain — Air Pollution in surrounding

Hi ,
I live in BTM layout 2nd Stage Bangalore, its a residential area. People in the surronding dump garbage in the empty sites and when the garbage is full they light fire. First of all there is enough pollution in our area and this is adding up even more. There is one more problem ,one of the resident is selling water to the water suplliers on a regular basis(more than 20 tankers in a day), this is happening from couple of years .As a result of this the water level in rest of the well in our surroundings have gone down . I have no clue whom to contact regarding this issue. Please help me on this .

I cant say my name for some reasons, but in our area, 214, Netaji Subhas Road, Howrah 711104. there is a plastic factory is situated. The work of the factory is to grind broken plastics which makes a loud noise. They are using old, low quality machines and the for there profit and creates a sound pollution. Its quite impossible to study & live here except Sunday. Forgive me that i cant tell u my name because of the good reletion bitween the boss of the plastic company and us. So, as a student i am requesting you to take steps as needed to prohibit the sound pollution. I have no problem if they use good machines and decrease the disgusting noise of cutting plastics.

I am staying in Bellandur, Bangalore near Iblur village.There around 800-900 rag pickers stay and that has become a slum area.These people are from Bangladesh who are staying in this slum and doing the business of mainly plastic bags.Every day they have a habit of burning electric wires and collect copper for their selling purpose.Every night after 9 PM one cant breathe in that air.We are facing this problem from around 6 months and these people are growing in huge number.Can we have check that how many people are migrated to India without any official formalities done.Also can we stop them from burning these plastic and elecrtic wires as this will cause our health hazards very badly.Kindly help me to get rid of this issue.

There is no action taken by the govt. authorities after sevral complaints. all the officers are taking huge bribe from the owner of the hotel. all the illegal activities like prostitution, gamblling are going on in this hotel jageer palace.

Residential pollution — Pollution by a generator

Request you to please take a action against use of generator by one of the house in our street. The pollution that comes out of the generator is very dangerous for the other families on the same street because the position of generator is wrong. The generator is placed in-between the street at ground level which cause pollution to spread at ground level, causing hamfull effects on the health of our childrens.

Request you to please take step & either stop this pollution causing generator or move this another location.

Its pathetic that in this scientific world people are still unaware of the fact that these smoke could cause cancer too. Being a Fluvial Geomorphologist I am too concerned about the river Darika (its a tributary of Brahmaputra River) and the contamination of its water due to solid waste disposal.
Necessary action is an urgent need for the residents of this locality.

I am staying the past 20 years at 1/8, rebellow Compound, Poisar East, kandivali, Mumbai400101. In front of my house there is a flour Mill named Mahalaxmi flour Mill. we don't know whetaher he has a licence with NOC or not. He never close the mill even in the weekly holidays. There is no air pollution control device has fixed in the flour mill. The amount of pollution created by this flour mill are immense and tjhey are very dangerous and hazardous to health.
The mill is not only giving air pollution but also sound pollution.

Now a days the owner of the millhas fixed a ceiling fan above the mill it expels the flour dust in large scale. these flours released directly in the environment all the way through the open widow and doors and spoils our electronic and electrical devices. If the neighbour pours water out side the houses it makes the way slippery. Many children and elders slipped away and injured in front of the flour mill.

The pollution department should take action against the flour mill or should be advised to fix a chimney above the flour mill. We hope the department will take severe action against the flour mill at once.

residential — Causing Air Pollution

Good Afternoon!

We are the resident of Alinagar, Aliabad. Door no. 19-3-543/77 are suffering from significant air pollution which in result causing ill health. Specially old members and small children of our locality are badly suffering from this thing. Infants are badly suffering due to pollution in the air.

Beside to our house there is a metal moulding workshop due to this bad smell is coming significantly.

From the last fifteen years we have been suffering from this problem,

So in this regard, i humbly request to you to take serious action against them and ask the concern person to take a quick inspection of our locality.

Air Pollution Complaint
I stay at Vishwas Nagar Shahdra Delhi. From last 25 years we people are facing chemical gas from last One Year .
The problem is that behind our Building is a company which makes the PVC Wire.
Some kind of raw material is being used for their product and that raw material is burnt.
This process generates fumes / different kind of gases.
which are not being taken care off. Those fumes or gases are released directly in the environment all the way through
the open window. Many o[censored]s approached to the company. This is air pollution and measures should be taken to prevent that.
not has NOC / consent for the same. Firstly, to set up the company which can cause any sort of harmful effects to the contiguous,
should not be permitted in the residential area. Secondly we are not aware that which kind of gases / fumes are being generated.
So the health effects are unknown. So we people think that, the company should be closed / shifted as early as possible.
To implement this and to have positive results, we people need help from you. Can you please suggest us,
to whom we should approach for the same or which further actions to be taken?

Air Pollution Complaint
I live in deoli area, Dist. Wardha, (Maharashtra). In deoli MIDC there is compony of TMT Steel as name Mahalaxmi tmt pvt ltd. this company is very responsible for air pollution in the area, this Co. does not properly use of chimney, most of time pollute air passed out from shelter. Hence pollute air spread in low height level, which is very harmful for breathing, other body diseases & children. It also affected on nearly farming sector, regular lifestyle.
But Mahalaxmi co. does not took any decision still, other govt officer also not took any action on it.
So please forward my complaint any regarded department and authority.

I live in baljeet nagar, there is shop near my house .they have shop of filling l.p.g, they are creating air pollution as they even don't take any preventive measure against it. Adding to air pollution, it is very unsafe and dangerous for our life as they don't use any instrument or pipe to fill L.P.G .

This is to kindly inform you that we the residence of “Balaji Road” are facing acute “Noise and Air Pollution” due to the sheet metal work and the gas emitted respectively out of an auto garage situated.
It is to be noted that the property is meant for “residential purpose only” and there is an “illegal setup”.
This is to further inform you that the noise (which is hazardous to physical self) has caused impatience among students (who are preparing for their exams), the sick, the working (those of them who are in night shifts as they cannot sleep during the day), the common man and all who are living there surrounding the garage. The smell of the gas enters into our rooms further polluting the very air we breathe.
We have addressed these issues to the owner (who apparently is the owner the garage as well) several times but it seems to be falling on deaf ears.
We kindly request you to take necessary action to stop this menace from further continuing at the earliest. We also request you to kindly keep this complaint confidential for security reasons.

Air pollution complaint,
Sir I am living in "pottai villai veedu, keezh pammam, marthandam (p.o), kanya kumari district, Tamilnadu state". From my birth am facing serious air pollution of plastic, organic waste, septic tank waters of kuzhithurai municipality was stored in a landmass of 6 acres which is just 5meters far from public living area since more than 50 years.Many complaints have given to the municipality but they have not taken any action to remove this organic waste storage of municipality. Daily 3 truck of plastic, organic waste and septic tank waters are thrown here. The people here are not supposed to smell oxygen but needed to smell septic tank water and organic waste gas.there is marthandam-kulasekaram road is near to 40meters from the waste stored land mass.

Our municipality is not considering this matter.This news is not becoming an issuse because of the municipality influence.they even not allowing to bring this matter to the press.Last month the waste storage got fire and the polluted air is surrounded as for 15 days we have inhailed large mass of pollluted, fired plastic waste gas.Many fire engines came for putting off the fire, this matter did not came even in local newspapers and local channels.

People in this area have lost faith in democracy, please help us and save democracy immediately.

This is the biggest air pollution of its kind, and it is the municipality who is creating this big air pollution. I stay at Agarwal Nagari -Vasant Nagari- vasai(This area comes between Nallasopara- and Vasai). I see here that the garbage collected by municipality is daily burned in the open area of Nallasopara West. This causes such huge air pollution that the entire railway station of Nallasopara is covered with the smoke of this burned garbage. It has been going on since last 2 years. Not only this, to add more problem to the nature, the municipality has also started burning huge tons of garbage in the open area of godbunder road. This is the open area which falls between the highway road of vasai to Fountain hotel. It is really very very horrible to see the road during the morning 7.30 when the entire road is covered by the smoke of the garbage burned by the municipality. This is really big big issue sir. This issue has been since last 2 years in nallasopara and it has now started since last 1 month on the vasai-godbunder highway road since last one month. Sir, I request you please please take some harsh action against this people. The municipality should take some necessary steps to seggregate the wastage and educate the people and take necessary actions instead of killing the people by giving them the slow poison through the polluted air. This is such dangerous that most of the people in areas of Nallasopara and vasai suffer from the regular cold which had been caused due to the breathing of this polluted air. I too suffer due to this. The regular timing to burn the garbage that they follow in Nallasopara is mostly during the night time after 11.30 and on the godbunder road its mostly in the early morning time i.e. around 7.30 a.m.

The Indian railways senseless act destroys the environment
The Railways may be one of the green transport systems in the world. But it is not true in case of Indian Railways and its zonal part south central railway. The air pollution caused by burning toxic waste material in its lallaguda workshop and scrap depot premises made life miserable for the residents of surrounding colonies. The dense smoke with foul smell originates due to the burning of waste forces the residents in the day and night to keep shut the windows and doors in this scorching summer. This polluted air causes breathing problems, eyes burning, headache and skin irritation. It may also cause serious health problems for the nearby residents in the long run. Many complaints were sent to concerned railway authorities fell on deaf ears in this regard. I have approached AP state pollution control board also but they are not ready to do anything against this air contamination.
The Indian Railway and the administration should understand the importance of clear and green surroundings and its importance.
I request the concerned authorities to take up this issue with railway and save our health and the environment

As you are aware that one boundary of Anandpuri, Kanpur wherein several houses are there and number of occupants residing, is just adjacent to Transport Nagar. In this boundary at the back my house No. 55 and other houses No. 53, 54, 56 and 57, One Pan Masala factory managed by Pradeep Agarwal Chairman of the company Trimurti Fragrance Pvt. Ltd. 133/231 A Transport Nagar Kanpur - 208023 is situated, who are doing manufacturing job of Pan Masala Gutkha with tobacco Gutkha in the name of Shikhar Pan Masala Gutkha. The pan masala factory is spreading bad smell and polluting the entire environment, which create cancer, Asthama and other contagious diseases. As existence of Pan Masala factory near residential colony is detrimental to human health and likely to inflict various diseases. It is requested that corrective steps be initiated so that resident of house no. 55 and near by as well may feel sigh relief and epidemic likely to spread may be averted.

2) As the plots in Transport Nagar were allotted to the transporters to transact transport business only and not for industrial purpose.

Our houses are covered with Graphite powder and the residents of this apartment are facing severe allergic and breathing difficulties because of the huge amounts of graphite powder that settle in our homes. Old & outdated method of mastic used in building road by burning tar in a residential area. Unauthorised use of machines & generators. The work starts at 9-10pm at night & goes on till morning. The tar burning machine placed next to my house emitting thick smoke containing toxic & poisonous gases The smoke enters our house at night causing breathing problems & we are unable to sleep. The work started a week ago & is still going on.
Calls on 100 to police has no response. They do not even turn up. They are also involved with the contractor.

We are the resident of Darpan City, Kharar, Mohali, Punjab. Darpan City society is approved by Municipal Corp. Kharar.

Municipal Corporation had placed a Garbage Dumping Yard adjoining to the Society, which creates lot of Air Pollution and leads to Skin and Breathing Problem. Resident of the Society have put their complaint in Municipal Office as well as SDM Office. But no action taken by these Govt bodies.

I work in JP Nagar & live in BTM- Bangalore. Both locations BBMP workers put fire to waste either road side or vacant site which is really sad that adds tremendous amount of smoke we can't breath.

I stay in nashik, but I usually travel to a place known as manmad related to my work, there a place named Chandwad (taluka) comes in my way, there are some brick manufacturer on that road who daily burns a lot amount of plastic, rubber, tyres & very different garbage which produce fire to cook their brick, but burning of all these things generates huge amount of pollution and they avoiding all the rules to earn profit, so its my very serious request to take some quick action against them. As early as possible.
