I am writing to formally bring to your attention the deduction of Rs. 590 from my Canara Bank account, which was made for the annual charges of my debit card. While I understand that an annual fee is applicable for the card, I would like to express my concerns regarding the significant increase in the fee and charging me for the same without prior notice.
I have been a customer of Canara Bank since 2020, and I was issued a platinum card without any prior request from my side. At the time of issuing the card, I was not informed about the varying charges associated with it. However, on my recent visit to the bank, I was informed that the charges for the platinum card have increased, and notice to this effect was hung in the bank.
When I requested an explanation for the increased fee, the bank representatives stated that platinum card charges increase every year and that they had nothing to do with it, rather it was government's order. They further informed me that the notice regarding the increase was displayed in the bank. I would like to bring to your attention that I did not receive any message or notification from the bank regarding this matter, and I cannot be expected to visit the bank daily to stay informed about changes in fees.
Furthermore, when I requested a solution to the problem, the bank representatives suggested that I surrender the platinum card and obtain a new card that would cost around Rs. 250(applying charges). I find this solution unsatisfactory as it does not address the issue of the significant increase in fees that I have been charged.
