[Resolved]  Smile Self Driven Cars — Duping money from customers

Address:Chennai, Tamil Nadu

I had a discussion with one of Smile Cars employees, Mr Imran regarding booking of an Alto car for 4 days w.e.f from 30 August 2013 and he confirmed the booking on 29 August 2013

I have a recorded conversation wherein I was promised an Alto car at a rate of RS 1,000 per day and I was told to confirm the delivery time and venue on 30 August. On 30 August I was told the car will be handed over to me by 12.30PM. At about 11AM on the same day, I was told that the Alto car is not available and hence I was asked to take a Wagon R car for Rs1,200 per day for four days. The condition of the car was very bad and dirty. I have photographs of the car which was in a very bad state. I had to get the car cleaned and serviced from my pocket.

I was disappointed at the offer as it was cheating to the customer that you confirm one car at a cheaper rate and offer another car at a higher rate. Also, I could not reach out to other providers because of calousness on the part of Smile Cars.

Anyways, I took the car at 1PM on 30 August and was asked to return on 3 September. I handed over RS 8500 to the delivery boy as advance for rent and pick/ drop charges (Rs 300). I reconfirmed from the delivery boy who told me there will be no additional charges if the car is returned till 3PM on 3 September 2013.

I also asked the delivery boy to connect with the manager and Mr. Imran to confirm this. However, Mr. Imran was offering prayer but the other person on the phone confirmed that there will be no additional charges within 5 hours. I also checked on the website (http://www.smilecars.net/term.html) and it also states the same.

After returning the car on 3 September 3PM at the Chennai Airport, I was surprised that the delivery boy asked me for 5 days of rent. On checking with Imran over the phone, he confirmed that it is a mistake from the office and only 4 days rent is chargeable. So Smile cars should refund the balance (RS 8,500 - Rs 5,400) = RS 3,100 to me.

Imran said that driver had only Rs 2,100 and he will refund the amount by bank transfer on 4 September 2013. I shared the bank details on smile car email id as well as sent to Smile car's mobile number ([protected]) but the transfer was not done. I followed up with Imran every day since 4 September 2013 and each day I was told that the money will be credited the same day. I also wrote an email to the owner Mr. Ismail but it seems there is no accountability and the company or its owner/ employees do not care about customer service. I have enquired from my other colleagues from my office and IT companies and it is confirmed that the company is blacklisted by many corporate house due to its misconduct. Itc appears that the company wants to cheat and forfeit the money.

Please help in this matter,

This was our first time renting from Smile cars and we were very pleased with the whole experience. Your price was lower than other companies. Our rental experience was good from start to finish, so we'll be back in the future.
