I had a deeply troubling experience with Club Resorto, resulting in a financial loss of ₹150, 000. It all started with an unsolicited invitation to a promotional event at the Four Points by Sheraton in Kochi on April 13, 2024. The event promised free movie tickets and a premium 2N/3D domestic stay for free. Once there, I was subjected to high-pressure sales tactics by individuals named Abishek and Sudheer.
They initially tried to sell me a package valued at ₹2.5 lakhs, but I opted for a less expensive package worth ₹150, 000. This package supposedly included free movie tickets every month, luxury hotel stays, and exclusive flight discounts. They offered EMI options to make these large expenses seem more manageable, even providing a ₹20, 000 discount as interest charges for the EMI, resulting in a payment of ₹130, 000.
However, it became clear that Club Resorto's business model involves moving from city to city, exploiting customers with deceptive promises, and failing to adhere to their own cancellation and refund policies. They use reputable venues like the Four Points by Sheraton and provide complimentary snacks and coffee to create a veneer of credibility and luxury—do not be fooled by these tactics.
Despite their claims of offering refunds, these promises are false and only serve to temporarily placate customers. I have been waiting for a refund since the day I made the payment, with no success. On the day of purchase itself, I informed Sudheer, the supposed Head of Sales, that I wanted a refund. He assured me he would make the arrangements, but his phone was always switched off. Abishek later informed me that Sudheer was on leave due to health issues and would return on April 26th, but even after that date, there was no resolution.
By June, I requested an update and asked for the contact details of higher authorities. Abishek directed me to customer service, who then asked me to send an email. It was only then that I discovered their refund policy only allows for refunds within 10 days—a fact conveniently hidden from me by Sudheer and Abishek. Despite several attempts to resolve the issue, including booking a hotel myself when they failed to honor their promises, nothing was resolved.
The customer service representative, Mrs. Kanika, was unhelpful and arrogant, refusing to provide a refund and dismissing my concerns. They also failed to honor their promise of waiving the annual maintenance fee of ₹7, 999 per year as part of a promotional offer.
This organization appears to be running a huge scam, with numerous reports online confirming this. They operate similarly to Club Mahindra. I’ve also seen articles falsely promoting their company in reputed publications like India Today, Hindustan Times, Zee Business, Tribune India, and the Economic Times. I plan to raise complaints about these misleading articles and push for their removal.
I have already filed a case in the consumer court for misrepresentation, misleading claims, and mental stress and trauma, along with other affected members. However, I am willing to cancel my complaint if they issue the refund promptly.
I urge everyone to exercise extreme caution with Club Resorto. Their operations are not only misleading but outright fraudulent. If anyone else has fallen into this trap or can offer any assistance in recovering the money, please reach out. Sharing our experiences and taking collective action may be our best recourse against this deceitful company.
