Subject: Regarding the cheating by Barclay card service call center about Barclay card Priority Circle

Dear Sir,

I, (Mr. Chetan P.Pise.) hereby informed that my Barclaycard no is [protected]. I had received call from 0124 code for the information about Barclaycard Priority Circle. Many times such calls are coming but due to Rs.5000/- charges, I was always rejecting this membership. But on that day, the calling person was given me all the information about Barclaycard Priority Circle at that time he told me this membership is absolutely free for you and for this membership you need not to pay Rs.5000/-. This is absolutely free for selected customer like you. Due to this reason, I agreed for the membership of Barclaycard Priority Circle.
But, when I got the Barclaycard statement bill of October 11, 2008. I was shocked because in that statement Barclaycard Priority Circle LE fee Rs. 5000/- and service tax Rs. 618/- was debited in my account. And I found that, I was cheated by the calling person of the Barclay card. After that I was called to Barclaycard Priority Circle helpline number[protected] and I gave my complaint, then he told that, you have to wait for 72 hrs. Then after 4 days again I have contacted to the same number, service person said me we are recording your call at that time when you were talking with sales executive from this call, we are not canceling you Barclaycard Priority Circle membership charge. At that time I said I want to listen that record but he said me this facility is not available here, he was not satisfying me. I was also called to our Barclaycard customer service center, I was explained these entire thing then he was given me my complaint no CAS 282434 dated – 01/11/08.
Sir, I am requesting you to please find that calling person, who was given me wrong information, cheated me which is not good for Barclay card service. I am a regular customer of your card but now I and my friends are very unhappy by your service and so we have decided that we will not use the Barclay card hereafter.
I am requesting you to please cancel my Barclaycard Priority Circle membership. I am not interested in it at the cost of Rs. 5000/-. I will not pay any charges.

Barclay card — Cheating by charging for nothing

I had requested for a balance transfer of 37K in March 21st. They said it would take 15 working days to approve it. My other credit cards due date was 12th of April. Obviously, I wanted to get the balance transfer cheque by at least 9 th of April. However, Barclay bank did not send me the cheque on time. So I inquired with them and they told me that it was approved on April 4th but it took 4 or 5 more working days to send me the cheque. (They actually wanted add the balance transfer amount to my April months statement thats why they did that). The address to which they send me the cheque was really funny! Sudheer Kumar, Brigade rd, Bangalore. I did not know that I was that famous. I had clearly given my office address.
It is obvious that the courier guys returned it back saying address incomplete. Already my due date for the other bank was over and I paid the minimum amount due to them not for charging me late payment fees.

Then I requested them to send the cheque again to me before the next months statement date so that I can still do the balance transfer even though I have to pay some amount as interest. For that the tele-banking guy/girl told me it will take 7 to 8 more working days. I waited again. Later just before 1 week to my next months due date I requested them to cancel the balance transfer since I did not get it on time.
Meanwhile, I got their statement on the correct office address in which I had to pay 1900 rs as my min amount for the balance transfer amount of 37K. Even though I did not get the money from Barclay, I put a cheque for the amount on 24th of April expecting the amount in next week. My due date was 2nd of May.

My marriage was on May 3rd and since I will be outstation from 29 of April till 8th of May I put the cheque dated 1st of May on 24th of April. Then starts the second round of cheating. They did not go for the collection on 1st of May instead they went for collection on 7th of May just to charge me late payment fee. Remember, I don't owe a single Rupee to them!

I had requested for the cancellation of balance transfer on April 28th. The tele-officer told me it will take 7 working days to cancel it. I thought in next month's statement they would revert it back! On 21st I got a text message(SMS) statement of May has been processed and dispatched to my address in which I have to pay them 1800 Rs as minimum. I called them up again and asked status of the cancellation (21st of May). That person told me it is still under processing (after 18 working days since my cancellation request!) and it would take 4 to 5 more days.

Now I got the statement online and it said I have to pay 300 + amount as late payment charge for their mistake. I called them up again today (May 27th). The lady told me it would take 4 to 5 more working days. And, she cannot revert the late payment charges. I told her that I had put the chaque on the skypack on 24 th of April, but what she is telling me that they got it on 5th of May! I was out of station at that time how can I put the cheque on that day?!

Now, the conclusion is, I have to pay them the entire balance transfer amount even though it has been canceled, plus the late payment fee.

So my friends, please do not go for Barclay bank cards! They are the worst bank I ever experienced. No responsibility, no business ethics, cheaters, lairs, behave like govt employees, delay in everything. If you have a Barclay card please cancel it immediately, you may be their next pray.

Barclays Credit Card — Cheat from Barclay card Priority circle

I have been trapped by Barclay credit card.They have charged Rs 5000+ tax +interest on that amount.Barclays card Priority Circle people Kept calling me one day and they just said i have been made a member of their priority circle group.Since then i have been trying to reach their customer care and asking them to cancel but with no result since 27th june and it already 27th Aug.Please take action agianst this.my card 4***********2924

I got a unsolicited phone call from barklays credit cards to have been selected a priority circle member . I was told that Ihave to pay only Rs. 250 to become a member and that the bank was giving a trolley bag absolutely free to me . iquestioned the caller as to why the bank would like to give me this free gift. I was told that bank does marketing exercises to enhance its business. however now I have received a bill of Rs. 5800 /- without having purchased anything or having availed any facility.
I would therefore request the bank to cancell my membership to the priority circle and also to cancel the credit card if required. thankig you

Barclaycard — Barclaycard Priorty Circle Fee

Respected Sir, I have received a bill statement of credit card of Baralay that, I have to pay Priority Circle charges . I have not anvil any facility to this circle . Even I have not given any commitment to pay this amount of the service. Barclay Bank has been charged an unauthorized amount and force me to pay. Number of times I calling Priority circle even they not pickup the phone .

May I request you to kindly look in to the matter please.

I am a Barclaycard holder ( CARD NO: xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-1577). I was offered an invitation to priority circle membership which according to my understanding was offered free of cost. But on the Oct statement my account reflected a charge of Rs. 6000/- along with a service tax of Rs. 741.60/-. So a total of Rs. 6741.60/- was charged in me for Priority circle membership. I have contacted Barclaycard Priority Circle on 24/10/08 on the number 40162380 and I have received a satisfactory response from the executive. I called them again on 27/10/2008 and told them I had no interest in this membership and I was misguided byt the executive and he has added this amount to my accoount. When he called me he offered me this free of cost membership

I inform you again that I am not interested this offer. If you force me I will go for Consume Court and also launch complain to Local Police Station and unnecessarily the bank's reputation will suffer.

In this regard I equest you to kindly help me and take necessary action against BARCLAYCARD priority circle

Barclaycard — Cheating by Barclay Customer Service

i'm a using barclaycard for the last 6-7 months. There was a transaction of Rs-15400 and last due date was on 01/09/2008. I had full amt with my hand and ready to pay on 31/08/08 but when i call and check with customer service they said they don't have any collection agency and can't pay immediately by cash. The only options are either i need to pay through online or through check that will take another 4-5 days to process and i don't have online payment access. i was suprised that they don't have collection agency to collect the cash. next day i recd a call from the bank telling the same and i requested to send and collect the money, but again they refused. then i thought anyway since there is no option, i'll pay the due with late charges some days later. But i received a call again on 02/09/08 from the bank, now they said they have collection agency and if i pay the full amount then there will no late charges. i was quite happy asked to come and collect. They came on 03/09/08 and collect all the money. But after 3 days i received a sms stating i have later charges of 1140.00. i tried several times but most of the times thier systems are down and sd not able to pull the records. i spoke with thier supervisor but he sd since i paid the amt after due date i should pay the late charge. When i asked why they are cheating he sd their employer must not tell that. I asked whether they recorded the conversation on 02/09/08 between their customer service and me. He sd they have recorded but can't open his mouth when i asked to listen the conversation. i still i'm getting several calls and sms. Please teach them a lesson. i don't mind paying the late charges but they should learn how to behave.

dear sir,
i, monika r bhatia here by inform you that my barclay credit card number is [protected] i had received call from[protected] regarding the offer of barclay priority circle membership.as per our talk on phone, there was no mention of its charges of rs 6000/-.let me tell you i just told the calling person to first send me the doccuments of this offer and its benefit.
and on 22nd oct. i got a sms reflecting that "your welcome letter of barlay priority circle membership has been despatched.and still charges were not mentioned to avail that membership. so far i had not received any such letter.
but when i got my nov 2008 bill, i was shocked cos in that barclay priority circle membership fees was debited along with service tax of rs741.60 ie 6000/ + 741.60. and i found my self cheated by the calling person.
after that i called on on[protected] and i gave my complaint, from there i was told that my all previous calls has been recorded and they will check it then can help me .for that he said to call me after 72 hrs.and after 72 hrs when i called i was told that their system has occured a problem and i have to wait for further 72 hrs.so i waited for another 72hrs and called back .this time they said they have checked my conversation and they will not cancell the barclay priority circle membership. at the same time i said that let me hear my recorded conversation but they said they dont have the facility to let me hear the recording. and when i said them to give me my complain number then also they refused to do so.
through this mail i request you kindly pay attention on my complain and please cancell the barclay priority circle membership .

Barclaycard Priority Circle — Cancellation of Barclaycard Priority Circle Membership

My barclaycard No [protected] and my mobile no : [protected].

I have received a call from Barclaycard Priority circle between 20 September to 30 September 2008 regarding offering membership of Barclaycard Priority Circle.

when I was asked for details and documents for the same but not provided by them.

and she is not asked for this circle as "no refundable" no "cancellation" etc.

regarding the same I immediately made the following calls to your Barclaycard Priority circle :-

Barclaycard Priority Circle — Forced membership of Priority circle

I am a Barclaycard holder ( CARD NO: 4339 xxxx xxxx 5608). I was offered an invitation to priority circle membership which according to my understanding was offered free of cost. But on 18/10/2008 my account reflected a charge of Rs. 6000/- along with a service tax of Rs. 741.60/-. So a total of Rs. 6741.60/- was charged in me for Priority circle membership. I was totally taken aback and promptly called back your customer care. They took down my complaint and upon enquiry from me after 72 hours they said that the charges cannot be reversed as apparently i consented to the proposal after knowing about the charges.

I totally disagree to such an acquisition and after i went through your terms and conditions for priority circle, according to Clause 2, subclause b., and c.,

b. The participation of Cardholder(s) in the Program is voluntary and if a Cardholder(s) chooses not to participate in the Program, then he/she shall inform/intimate the Bank in this regard within 21 days from the date of the amount has been debited to his card account, in the manner as indicated by the Bank at its sole discretion from time to time. In the event, a Cardholder(s) decides not to become member of the Program and has communicated the same to Bank within the 21 days mentioned above, then the Bank shall reverse such charges received from the Cardholder(s) provided that the Cardholder has not availed any benefit of the programme.

c. Subject to terms of 2 b above, If a Barclaycardholder decides to withdraw from the Program, then he/she shall intimate the Bank of the same. Upon withdrawal from the Program, all Charges pertaining to the Program, borne by Barclaycardholder, shall be reversed.

I again called up your customer care at priority circle, and expressed my decision to withdraw from the programme clearly in straight words, siting the terms and conditions as above.

But till date whenever i called cust. Care to verify the reversal, they are telling that the membership cannot be cancelled and fees cannot be reversed.

In this regard I am requesting Consumer complaints officials should take actions against BARCLAYCARD priority circle on this issue.

They should cancel the membership and revert charges to my account.

A PROMPT ACTION IN THIS MATTER WILL BE HIGHLY APPRICIATED

Barclaycard — Priority Circle program

I have received call from the number[protected] on 22/09/2008 regarding their "Priority Circle Program".

Firstly I refused to speak to them, then the guy convinced me and said about that program details.
Also he said that Barclay will send the kit for my perusal as free of cost and after my confirmation by seeing the kit you will get charged of Rs.6000.

So I agreed to send the kit.

But unfortunately 25/09/2008 payment of Rs.6000 was detected and is reflected in my statement for that month.

So, on 09/09/2008 - I have called Chennai customer care and ask about prepayment charged they asked me to call the number [protected] regarding this.
Same day I have called to that number ask them to cancel this program.

The customer care person said "it is not possible to get back the amount charged for you, because there is no rights to cancel the amount by anyone from Barclay".

After I mentioned about their terms and conditions of the priority circle program he accept to register my complaint and he gave me a reference number[protected] and ask me to call again to check my status after 72hours.

"Terms and conditions for priority circle, according to Clause 2, subclause b., and c.,
b. The participation of Cardholder(s) in the Program is voluntary and if a Cardholder(s)
chooses not to participate in the Program, then he/she shall inform/intimate the Bank in this
regard within 21 days from the date of the amount has been debited to his card account, in the

Again I have called to Barclay's customer care in the same number [protected] on 16/10/2008 to know my status of the complaint.

The person Nivedita spoke to me, she have checked my complaint status and revert to me that there is no possibility to cancel the amount, because I have accepted them to send the "priority circle program kit".

I said, "from my understanding the guy who convinced me for sending the kit is free of cost and after my confirmation to join the program only they will charge."

For this she replied "because of miss communication it happens and there is no way to cancel the amount charged for you, so you have to pay that amount" .

I said about the terms and conditions of Priority circle program and there is possibility to cancel from the program within 21days after accepting it and my complaint date which is also with the time limit they mentioned.

So, this time she agreed to cancel the amount and cancellation amount will reflect in my next statement.

But the amount was not withdrawn and same was not reflected in next statement.So again I make call to customer care and launch complaint regarding this on 10/11/2008.

Next few days I received a call from Delhi as below.

14/11/2008- laxmi- Regarding the cancellation of the priority circle.

She called twice in same day,
First she ask me whether iam ready to pay the payment of the priority circle.
I said "no also regarding this I already made complaint".She replied that she aware of the complaints and there is no chance to cancel the program.
I mention about terms and condition then she ask for some time to check with my previous complaints.
2nd - call now she ask the reason for cancellation I said I am not interested to join in that program.
She now accepted to forward to higher official also she confirmed that my charges will be reversed in next statement.

But till now 09/12/2008 the amount was not withdrawn and this time I received the statement with interest too.

I can say this is an kind of cheating they doing using the telephones.

Kindly help me to relieve from this kind of pain also advice me what I can do further.

I have got call from barkley about free member ship.I had never agree for any paid service from this card.

Now they have sent statement for Barclaycard priority CIRC LE FEE (Rs 6000+ service fee 741.60)

There toll free number is not working and i had sent mail then automated reply received they will contact within one week.If they are charging if we cross one day why they are not promptly replying.

There are thousand of person in India had got this this type of card statement what our government can do for this.

I am suffering from Barclaycard Priority Circle . I received a call from Barclay it was told to me that I have been selected in the lucky draw for the following things and that are absolutely free means I will be charged nothing:

1) A travel bag worth rupees 2, 000/-

2) Travel package

3) Cash back on shopping

The main point is that I asked again & again during the conversation regarding the charges/fee if any but it was told to me that there is no charges/fee. You have been selected in lucky draw so we want to give these things to you absolutely free so I trust on the same. In the entire conversation, they never told me about the registration fee of Barclaycard Priority Circle that 6, 000/- which I have come to know later when I received my Barclaycard E-statement. Now according to Barclaycard E-statement total due at my end is: 7253.65 (Including interest + Service Tax).

So I am really helpless now. Can you help me
