Barclaycard Priority Circle — Charges without intimating

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am a Barclaycard holder ( CARD NO: [protected]). I was offered an invitation to priority circle membership which according to my understanding was offered free of cost. But on 18/09/2008 my account reflected a charge of Rs. 6000/- along with a service tax of Rs. 741.60/-. So a total of Rs. 6741.60/- was charged in me for Priority circle membership. I was totally taken aback and promptly called back your customer care. They took down my complaint and upon enquiry from me after 72 hours they said that the charges cannot be reversed as apparently i consented to the proposal after knowing about the charges.

I totally disagree to such an acquisition and after i went through your terms and conditions for priority circle, according to Clause 2, subclause b., and c.,

b. The participation of Cardholder(s) in the Program is voluntary and if a Cardholder(s) chooses not to participate in the Program, then he/she shall inform/intimate the Bank in this regard within 21 days from the date of the amount has been debited to his card account, in the manner as indicated by the Bank at its sole discretion from time to time. In the event, a Cardholder(s) decides not to become member of the Program and has communicated the same to Bank within the 21 days mentioned above, then the Bank shall reverse such charges received from the Cardholder(s) provided that the Cardholder has not availed any benefit of the programme.

c. Subject to terms of 2 b above, If a Barclaycardholder decides to withdraw from the Program, then he/she shall intimate the Bank of the same. Upon withdrawal from the Program, all Charges pertaining to the Program, borne by Barclaycardholder, shall be reversed.

I again called up your customer care at priority circle, and expressed my decision to withdraw from the programme clearly in straight words, siting the terms and conditions as above.

But till date whenever i called cust. Care to verify the reversal, they are telling that the fees cannot be reversed.

In this regard I am requesting Consumer complaints officials should take actions against BARCLAYCARD priority circle on this issue.

They should cancel the membership and revert charges to my account.

They took down my complaint and upon enquiry from me after 48 hours they said that the charges cannot be reversed as apparently i consented to the proposal after knowing about the charges.

So on 15/09/2008 ( 17th day from charging my account) i again called up your customer care at priority circle, and expressed my decision to withdraw from the programme clearly in straight words, siting the terms and conditions as above. I talked to one Ms. DURGA and after a while she confirmed me that my charges will be reversed instantly. I was given the ref. No.[protected].
But till date whenever i called cust. Care to verify the reversal, ( i called priority circle on 19/09/2008 at 11.35 pm and after that the customer care at 11.45 pm. Same date), they are unable to confirm that. On the contrary they said again that the fees cannot be reversed.

But on 24/09/2008 my account reflected a charge of Rs. 5000/- along with a service tax of Rs. 618/-. So a total of Rs. 5618/- was charged in me for Priority circle membership.on 30th Sep i called to customer care for my outstanding bill they have tell me that you have charged 5000 for barclay priority circle membership. I was totally taken aback and promptly called back your customer care. They took down my complaint and upon enquiry from me after 48 hours they said that the charges cannot be reversed as apparently i consented to the proposal after knowing about the charges.

i have Called to Customer care and speak to them to cancel this membership offer, but they have given a number [protected] and said that i have to inform on this number.i have tried 2-3 days regularly, i think that is fake number, only IVR System is speaking our there.

I am facing the same problem...
When they called me I had told them to send me the offer details first then only I will confirm whether I will participate in this offer or not. But they had just charged me the same amount 5000 + taxes 618. I have been added to this offer against my will.
My Card number is 4339********4769.

I had came to know about this today only (08/10/2008) when I recieved an e-statement.

They took down my complaint and even don't now prioirity circle when i phone to customer care then only i know. accoriding to your rules :

same thing happen to me also... i don't know what to do... they charged 6000 plus taxes...
i agree, i work for the barclay credit card department. i know all these issues.

Respected Sir/Madam,

I am a Barclaycard holder ( CARD NO: [protected]). I was offered an invitation to priority circle membership which according to my understanding was offered free of cost. But on 12/11/2008 my account reflected a charge of Rs. 6000/- + servicetax 741.60 (6741.60)
I have suffered a lot with Braclaycard too. the executive had put me in soup. The calls for BPC(Priority Circle) was put on me without ny consent. I have denied upfront a number of times and verified over phone. But I was in chennai then on business trip, gone there from Bangalore.
The call center executive from Delhi were very rude and I had suffered a lot in that.
Finally I composed mail and had maintained a log of all the calls I had made post the BPC membership. These guys have debited Rs. 5618.00 in Oct 2008 statement, while I got call in April 2008, and I had denied then. In between a couple of times I got call that Mr Kumar, this is confirmation call. I rejected upfront.

But after shotting three mails I got a call from Head-Barclaycard Services, that they will take pro-active action and revert back th echarges if not subscribed.
Thanks god! I got it back. But I had really bad experience handling the call executive who were very rude,

I have mixed feelings, but the top management level executives will be the right person to contact whenever you are in unwanted and un-solicited trouble.

I have faced similar nuisance with barclay card and they have not responded to my concern as well. Infact their numbers for delhi[protected]...there nobody picks up the phone, its quite misleading and frustrating. Barclays should stop this priority circle membership as they have misled me.
